I was around one time when hogs were castrated, they poured diesel fuel on the incision. Guess they has done it that way for years. Did they use used motor oil in the hog oilers? Just wondering, gobble

we used iodine on the incision and whatever oil we had for oiler. used motor oil is the best thing i ever saw to cure mange on a dog too.

That is one of the many made it was filled with an oil made for the swine as their skin is dry and they can get mange easy so you put the oil made for them in the oiler and they would rub and play a lot saved spraying for lice and other skin disorders they could get. There are collectors who have many types that were available all painted up making a neat collection of how we got here.

Yep, what they said, hog oiler. Get it up out of the dirt and clean it up, for some reason there are folks that collect those things and might pay more than a few bucks for it.

Yep, hog oiler.

I'd keep it and use it as a focal point in a garden (or even in your house if you have room for it somewhere).

I would clean it and oil it and set it on a wood base if in the house. I would not paint it... but I love rusty stuff.
