Robins, has anybody seen robins yet this spring? In Nova Scotia, Canada have not seen any as of april 01. Normally they arrive the middle of March, that is our first indication that spring is arriving. Cheers, Murray

Murray,
Robins arrived here last Friday. Huge flocks of them. I read in a paper somewhere that robins are bypassing NS this year. Something about they remembered how their feathers got so ruffled with those "Nor"easters" blowing into your harbor last year. Also, some of the robins just are not capable of chirping "Chirp, eh?" very well. Can"t remember exactly where I read that, but it was somewhere.

Now if you want some cowbirds, we gots some you can come get.

tons of them through here over the past month (Massachusetts).

They on their way - they probably just liked my crabapple trees so much that they'll be a little late.

Hi Lowell, you are probably getting your plow prepared for the season and ready for those plowing competitions. These are the real signs of spring. Cheers, Murray

Hi, take your word that they are on their way, a little to the nor/east??? A few day's travel . cheers, Murray

In SW WI they appeared just this weekend, coinciding with the snow melting off the flat areas. There were large flocks of them looking for something to eat in the manure....competing with the crows and turkeys.

Also saw my first kildeer of the year.

Still lots of snow in the bottoms.

We had our plow day set for Sat, April 6. A week ago we delayed it to Sat, April 20.

Low of 25 last night, high of 34 today and we still have a lot of snow. Our robins are wearing heavy coats and mukluks.

Maybe the 20th will be too early as well.

They've just started showing up in numbers maybe a week ago here (Western PA) and I think most wished they'd held up a week or two.

Robins, Redwinged blackbirds,Killdeers,Sandhill cranes, pelicans all showed up here in the Fox River valley the end of last week. Jim

They came in early down here but not many like usually when they come in after the 1st of the year. I love the Norman Rockwell picture of the Robin pulling the worm out of the ground.

We have big white ones down here and tons of them. They are about as big around as a pencil and 10 or so inches long.

The leave little mounds of dirt on the surface so they are easy to spot.....Armadillo's love them and rip the heck out of the yard on the process.

I was in Kitchener last weekend and there were lots of robins, but if there were any here in New Liskeard they have frozen to death. The wind chill is -22C today.
