Can I do tonights topic?What country do you live?What country do your ancestors come from?My paternal side is Swiss/German(Spinden/Gray).My maternal side is French/Irish(Pollitt/Dunn).I live in the Good old USA!!

Both sides of my family are German. I remember when I was 4 or 5 many of my aunts and mainly my uncles would speak German. My father in law could speak it too. Rest his sole. He passed 10 years ago. A Veteran of WWll, in Battle of the Bulge.

From my dad I'm half German bloodlines...his family came to the US at least two generations before him.

Mom always said her family tree made us bonafide mutts: French, Dutch, Irish, Swedish and another one or two that I can't think of right now.
 
Paternal side is German. Maternal side is Irish (mostly), English, Scottish, and Dutch. I live in the Finger Lakes region of New York.
 
Guys, OK you asked... Texas!, My ancestors came before it was a Country to its own! I an 6th Generation and my son it 7th Generation Texan.
Before that Tennessee, before that Ireland and England.

Smith county, Mississippi, USA. The Stringers came from England in the late 1600's migrated down to the south and all over. Paternal grandmother was 1/8 Cherokee.
Maternal grand parents were Scotch and Irish descent, with English mixed.
I am full blooded American red neck.<:)
 
Live in NE. Dads side, grandpa was full German, and grandma was full Irish. Moms side was full German, and I still can"t stand Brats!
 
Dutch on both sides. I have a penny my maternal grandfather brought with him when he came over at 13, made in 1878, same year he was born. It looks like new.
 
My grandparents on my fathers side were from Austria. (Evans)
I am not sure when they came to America, but I do know that my grandfather became a US citizen in 1882.
My grandparents on my mothers side is this, My grandfather (Wenner) was born here as was his parents. Roots trace back to Germany.
My grandmothers family (Coates) dates back to England and are of,
Harrison-Lippincott ancestry. Richard Lippincott came to Massachusetts Bay in 1639.
 
Rollie, every time I see you post I wonder about your ancestry.
My first son is named Rollie, after my Grandfather, also named and spelled
Rollie.
Maybe more common in the past, but not so much any more.
My family hails mostly from England, but has some German as well as
some deep Cherokee ties.
 
On Dad's side, Grandfather is Koehler(German) and Grandmother is Sherwood(English). On Mom's side, Grandfather is Rector(English) and grandmother is Gillet(French). I'm American. Chris
 
About all I could find out from Dad's side was that they were Scotch, Irish, and English.
Mom's family was thought to have migrated from England, but my son did some research and was told that the name was originally from Scotland. And I am sure there is the usual "traveling salesman" or two. (But we don't admit to that. do we?)
 
My ancester was one of 3 brothers who Came to Jamestown Virginia in 1620. Father's side Originally from Denmark, then to England before coming to Jamestown.

Mother's ancesters were originally a French princess who married an English earl. French spelling was Baleigh and changed to Bailey for English spelling. Her family emigrated to America in late 1600's.

Parents both from eastern Ky and moved to Ohio in 1926. I have stayed close to western Ohio most of my life.

Dad's side, french Canadian, and english. Mom's side, english, dutch and irish. My mother's side was in Wayne county, Michigan, in 1820. Some of them came from NY & Mass earlier.
 
paternal grandmother- german russian, paternal grandfather- irish scotch english, maternal grandmother- english, german, maternal grandfather-greek. now living and farming in ny
 
My ancestors didn't come over on the Mayflower. They were on the welcoming comittee. Cherokee, Choctaw and Osage.

OK, there's some Scottish and English in me as well.
 
Dads folx camer from ALSACE / LOLRAINE region in 1859 ,, Moms folx came from german netherland area around 1815 , 1st wife family was descended from sacajewa and lewis and clark..and french /german .. 2nd wife was raised in sicily , her great granpa came to ellis island 1909 ,greatgranmother came over few monthe later , but was not allowed to go thru because of siknes of their children , so they returned to sicily and resterted their lives ... kinda sad...
 
Royse, My correct name is Roland. I have been called Ronnie, Ron, Wally and a few other things! If you know what I mean.
My wifes fathers first name was Walter. I told my wife when we got married that if we had a son I wanted to name him Sir Walter Raliegh. We had to girls so that idea did not work.
My father in law was German.(Knorr) My mother in law was Irish/Polish. My wife step grandfather was Indian I think. (Quick)
 
Dad's side Austrian-German, immigrated to Maryland about 1760. Mom's side pure English, came to New Hampshire about 1660. Me, only Lord knows, pure American and very proud of it.
 
My maternal grandparents, including my mom, were born in Mexico. My paternal Great grandfather was full Mescalero Apache. Didn't know him but my grandfather was as Apache looking as he could be.
