Looking for an auger

I need a short auger - I'm thinking like seed auger size. I need it to get from the horizontal unloading auger at the bottom of the grain bin to the hopper on the mixer grinder. We are talking a couple of feet. If there wasn't a concrete slab I would just dig a little pit, but that isn't an option

Here are my issues: I don't want to buy a new one for something like this. I also can't find any short augers on CL - everything is either attached to the seed wagon or 70 feet long.

I'm thinking about going to the combine junkyard and buying the unloading auger or clean grain auger off a junker and putting a motor on it. What combines would have something that would work well? I sure don't want a 10 inch auger, so obviously from older machines. Are there any other options (other than a grain scoop!)?

Get an 8 inch 25 degree incline auger to put on the end of the bin auger. Drive connects with a U-joint, and one motor runs it all. They connect to a 6 inch under-bin auger. google Hutchinson augers or similar mfgrs.

I used a 4" auger about 6' to 8' long. I can't remember the exact length. I still have 2 of them. I'll check and see but I think they were 1/2 h.p. electric.

post hole auger may do the trick , they sure are the right length and most any diameter you want .

You are looking for a 'jump auger', they tend to be pretty cheap at farm auctions in the smaller sizes. Can get electric or hyd driven.

I have a 6" incline auger just laying in the barn that you can have. It's for an 18' bin so the horizontal auger is in the 9' range. I augered many thousands of bushels into the grinder hopper with it when I had hogs. Don't know if it'll work for you or not but it's just laying there. I'm about 130 miles NE of Omaha. Probably too far for you to come if you want it. Jim
