I was reading 1 of my farm papers this afternoon, and as I was paging throught the paper I seen this article about a new concept in combines. It is a machine called the Tribine. I went to the website and watched the videos. I think it a very well thought out and well built machine. See info at www.tribine.com.

Saw that on the other forum this winter.

They combine a big Gleaner combine with a grain cart behind it all in one unit.

Wonder if it is meant for wheat, or for corn/soybeans? I'd expect it will only have one strong suit of those.

As mentioned on the combine forum here, fellas will not want to idle it unloading on the ends, so it still will need a grain cart and tractor running around.

Did you see the fella last winter trying to put a chisel plow behind a grain cart? Proto type also. While running around beside the combine, they lower the chisel plow that is built on the back of the grain cart. Get some tillage done while they drive.

So the joke was, combine than in also, and call it a Fourbine. Harvest, thrash, haul, and tillage all at the same time.....

I've forcast changes like this. In addition to that, there was a story in that magazine that Massey Ferguson sends out talking about running chopping cornheads that windrow the stalks and trash, then about pulling a large baler with the combine to harvest everything in one pass.

I seen the same thing yesterday and put a post up on the combine forum with a video link. Looks like a neat invention but I wonder how practical it is.

I saw a video on youtube from Australia, where they pull a big square baler behind the combine in wheat. Sure would make the cart operators job more interesting to have to dodge those bales, while watching the combine during on-the-go unloading.

Ya,Massey is talking about using it along with a baler pulled behind the combine.

The combine/graincart thing is a real old idea too. I remeber in Homemade and Handy in the Farm Journal years ago somebody had put an auger out the back of a sheller on a New Idea Uni Harvester and pulled a gravity wagon behind. They didn't have to unload, just changed wagons.

If it can fill a 1000 bu grain cart in one dump and the cart can get to the truck and back before the combine is full the efficiency will go up. The problem we are bumping up against with today's combines is too small of a grain tank for the capacity of the combine. By the time the grain cart gets to the truck, empties and returns to the combine the combine is sitting in the middle of the field with a full tank waiting. Two grain carts per combine is the only other solution besides more grain tank capacity on the combine. I'd like to see what kind of a hydro they use because a regular combine hydro won't last long with that kind of a load. Jim

Looks like there is some Masssey input in that machine just looking at the cab ? In Europe a similar idea is used on self propelled choppers with a top tip attachment for emptying the chopped forage into lorries parked on the roadside.

With all that chaff and leaves blowing around between the units some Debris is likely to wind up in the clean grain.

To me I think you will still need grain carts. My field is one mile across, you would have to set a truck and each end. They might want to figure out deflectors for the chaff to blow it down to the ground instead of right into the bin.
