bearing race removal

Finally have the need to remove a bad bearing race and have been chomping at the bit to try the weld a bead on the race method. What works better , a stick welder or wire or doesnt it make any difference. Thanks, Bill

Makes no difference. The only problem would be if you use less heat with the wire feed. Some of the small ones don't have much power.

don't matter, won't take much to make the race draw, and just a little draw and it's loose

Depends on how skilled you are with one or the other.

I welded a large thich washer to the inside of the race I wanted to remove, thinking I would have something to grab on to. Used a mig. The race just fell out.
