Just bought this old turd and might be regretting it! This is an 8sp manual. The hi/lo range, fw/rev, and 3/4 levers are next to impossible. I literally spend 15min trying to get it into hi/lo neutral so I could start it! The seller said it did not go into reverse real well because the shift rod was bent. Well, I can see why. I too would get ------ at some point and jam it for all it is worth.

The levers are free as a bird and I can see the rods pushing on their shaft arms without issue. What sucks is 1/2 shift PERFECT. Smooth and no issues. Seller said shift forks were replaced sometime back when it was split for an engine rebuild. I am just confused as to what would cause these issues. There is NO way I can hay with a tractor that take 5min to switch from fw to rev!!!

Go to the case board. Many very helpful people
there. The 1170 is one of the best and most well
liked cases so if you get it working you will have
no problems with it.

Have a Mehindre 8 sp. Had same problem. Took the top of trens. of and cleaned the shifting bars and greesed them. It yhad sat all wenter and conditnsation had rusted the bars and they would not slide. Works well after lup. This might be the problem.

I appreciate it! I talked with Case as well and I did not realize all the slide bars and shift forks were up top right under the floor. I will move this over to the Case board. Any helpful parties, please follow me over there!

This tractor certain runs like a top aside the shifting issue. 1/2 is smooth as silk so if I can get the others working that good, I should be able to work everything else out.

Did the Case 1370 use rods or cables?? I have a Case 2290 8 speed with cables and it was shifting hard. I took the cable off of the shift linkage down on the side of the transmission and the lever still moved hard. Problem was inside of the cable. I put a new cable on and that solved my problem. Cable aren't cheap buy it fixed the problem.
