I'm building a cab for my Power King snowblower tractor.

What is the flexible clear material called that is used in most garden tractor cab for windows? Does anyone know where to get it?

It's clear acrylic, and Plexi-glass is a brand name but like Vic says, that's what most people call it.

Isenglas. Go to Joan Ann"s fabrics and get heavy weight clear plastic...same thing.

Yes, I bought the new 42" snowblower at an auction same one as used on a Cub Cadet or Craftsman. The one that is made for a PK needs to be run fast so the ground speed of the tractor is too fast. With the 12hsp rear engine from a Ford garden tractor, I can speed the Ford engine up and the ground speed is independent of it. Tractor also has 2 transmissions so I can really slow it down when the going gets tough.

I'd go with the clear plastic Nate recommended. In a small cab like that you'll be bumping the windows with your elbows or whatever so you might want a soft plastic clear sheet. Soft plastic is also quieter. Glass's obvious drawback is it breaks, and it's noisier because of it's hardness. Plexiglass doesn't break as easy but it will still break, especially in the cold. Lexan is bulletproof, but it's spendy and again it's harder and noisier. Just my .02. Jim

You"re looking for the flexible material like used in the rear window of convertibles, right? The 40 mil "good stuff" is called Strataglass. AllI ever heard the thin stuff called is clear vinyl. It is availabke anyplace that makes boat tops. Maybe at fabric stores.

Isinglass

For other uses, see Isinglass (disambiguation).

Swim bladder of a Rudd fish (Scardinius erythrophthalmus)
Isinglass (pron.: /ˈaɪzɪŋɡlæs/ or /ˈaɪzɪŋɡlɑːs/) is a substance obtained from the dried swim bladders of fish. It is a form of collagen used mainly for the clarification of wine and beer. It can also be cooked into a paste for specialized gluing purposes.
Isinglass was originally made exclusively from sturgeon, especially Beluga sturgeon, until the 1795 invention by William Murdoch of a cheap substitute using cod. This was extensively used in Britain in place of Russian isinglass. The bladders, once removed from the fish, processed and dried, are formed into various shapes for use.

Isinglass (mineral):
Thin transparent sheets of mica called "isinglass" were used for peepholes in boilers, lanterns, stoves, and kerosene heaters because they were less likely to shatter than glass when exposed to extreme temperature gradients. Such peepholes were also used in "isinglass curtains" in horse-drawn carriages and early 20th century cars.

Yup, but the guy that sells clear vinyl will be calling it isinglass. Technically it ain"t, but that"s what he"ll be calling it, at least in these parts.
