When I had tires put on my ford I noticed the rotors were badly scored, maybe too far gone to turn. I believe last time I instaled new pads, I put on ceramic pads. Is there a pad that will not cut into my rotors so much? Thanks for any info. Stan

Ceramic pads do just that.
Metalic based pads are next in rotor wear. Semi metalic pads do it less and have good life.
Organic pads are probably quietest, but wear relatively rapidly. Jim

Most rotors are only good for one turning anyway, if that. If you have already done one brake job, chances are they would be under regardless. I would stick to ceramic, less noise and black crap on the wheels. I use ceramic pads almost exclusively at my shop.

As stated the rotors are not any thicker than
they absolutly hafta be. Turning them once will
put them at the Minium thickness. I"ve always
driven Fords, cause I work for Ford Store &
I"ve never had problems with brakes. What does
happen to my brakes it the lining will pop off
the metal backing because of rust get behind &
pop the lining off.. I live in hilly area &
I don"t use much brake, have had people follow
me & they say my brake lite don"t work, I said
they do if I push on the brake & I show them.
04 F150 4x4 not my dailey driver 72K & last
month took the factory installed pads off.
Rotors didn"t jump so I use Motorcraft pads &
didn"t turn the rotors. My Wife on the other
hand will burn the brake pads off her car in
20K... I"ve seen her drive with one foot on the
gas & one brake in town.
