anyone know how i can find a good hydraulic cylindar for a shaver d-8 post driver..p-owner damaged the ram by lenthened itand consequently destroyed the piston , cant tell if any evidence of damage is in the long barrel ,,but only assume it could have damage

I had one of those once, small diameter cylinder with a long stroke. Surplus Center in Nebraska has some like that but I don't recall the bore and stroke of the shaver, and the shaver may have larger ports so the fluid can get out faster when the hammer comes down.
Anyway measure it up and check here.

That piston is not much more than a stop to keep the piston in the cylinder and centered. The seal is at the end of the cylinder to seal the rod. pressurizing the cylinder displaces the whole rod. In this application there is not a lot of weight to move but it needs to move quickly. that is the reason there is a 1 inch hose connected to it, so it can unload quickly. If the rod and the seal is good that is all that is required.Make sure the oil from that valve dumps to tank as going thru a valve will restrict oil flow and driver performance.
Good Luck,
Andy

I replaced one on mine. Pretty pricey item if I remember right. Most any Shaver dealer can get the right one.
