Is Rock Auto Like Aldi's?

While they carry few name brands, Aldi's prices are always the best value in groceries, (you don't even need to check the prices).

And while they carry name brands, are their prices always the lowest, (no need to shop around)?

Thanks,
Glenn F.

Alot of Aldis foods don't taste right.

About everything I have priced at Rock Auto I can find cheaper elsewhere. Not a big selection but check out amautoparts.com

I have some better prices but also they have been the best deal sometimes i still check a few places
Nearest Aldis about hour drive only been there a couple times when i was in that area. prices seem cheaper than local.

I don't think Rock's have groceries. I have bought auto parts from them. But I check around too. A lot of bargains can be found on ebay. I just bought a rebuilt carb for $20 for an older vehicle.

I think its one of those "time is money" places- They have almost everything, prices are good- you may find it cheaper elsewhere, but if your time is worth anything, and you don't want to fuss around with multiple vendors (and shipping to each), you're probably ahead to just order from Rock Auto.

I like prices, very competitve with my local shops, and some parts gives me options as to quality /price I want (or dont to save a buck on old truck)

I can get much the same price locally as Rock Auto. I do get the job shop price. I have gotten some odd ball stuff from Rock Auto.

As for Aldi food. You get what you pay for. The bread and stuff is OK but their store brand stuff is of questionable quality. I work hard for my living and I am not going to eat junk. There are somethings that the generic brands just do not taste right.

My oldest daughter works at the Aldis warehouse in Indiana , but I still won't buy at Aldis . Years ago when Aldis opened a store locally . I went with my X but wasn't impressed by odd names on labels or looks of their meat or produce . X bought our monthly stock against my wishes . Taste wasn't to my approval at all . Never bought there again . As for auto parts , I buy from locally owned & operated stores where counter help knows whats what with vehicles & parts , not what that computor tells them . God bless , Ken

For example: I see a door handle for my Chevy Astro is $7.00 at Rock Auto, and $22.00 at O'Reilly. Is the quality the same? The best ones aren't good enough.

Don't have Rock Auto in the UK. Do have Aldi. When you say stuff tastes wrong, do you really mean it tastes different? Remember, when we come to the US on holiday, your foods taste "wrong" to us, because we are not familiar with what you eat and drink.Food tasting is very subjective. My wife and I do not like French food, the french people love it. Phil

I needed front hubs for my superduty, local $240.00. Rock Auto $160.00 for the pair delivered, same brand. You make the call

Have never bought anything from Rock Auto, but buy about 80% of our food from Aldi. Produce is just as good and a lot cheaper than the competition. There are a few things to avoid like their breads and a few of their boxed goods.

I used to buy a lot of parts at Rockauto but in recent years their quality of parts and order accuracy has fallen off. They do have a pretty good customer service department though. If I have gotten the wrong part they generally tell me to keep it and they send the correct one at no additional charge.
It seems they aren't stocking parts anymore just acting as a middle man for other warehouses.
Just my 2¢

I have purchased quite a bit from Advanced and like their free shipping on orders over $75 plus if it's wrong I can return the part locally.

I wouldn't say it tastes wrong but is definitely not quite right. The Aldi here in the US is not the same as the Aldi in Europe. I lived in Germany for six years and ate a number meals from Aldi and do not recall any issues. We do not shop in the US stores due to price and taste.

I buy a lot of things at Aldi. Veggies, milk, snacks, frozen food, hams around the holidays, etc.
I am picky, but I also value my $.. So $1.98 gal of milk or pay $2.98. Or a box of powder milk for 5.88 or pay 9.99 elsewhere. I don't shop there exclusively though

"Aldi"s prices are always the best value in groceries"

They have some good prices on their food, but read the label carefully. Lots of items say "Product of China". That may not concern you, but it won"t fly at my house.

My one experience with Rock Auto was some wheel studs for a 3/4t Chevy pickup.
Needed 32 of them for my trailer.
I priced them at Napa and Oreilly's and Rock Auto shipped them to my door for 1/2 the price.
Same Dorman brand as the others.
There is an Aldy's about a mile from here. Been there a few times and it was ok but usually I forget to go there.

I have found some true bargains on RockAuto, but make sure you figure in the shipping when comparing prices to a local business.
As far as Aldi prices, why is it they can sell their milk for $1.99/gallon, but every other store, including WalMart, is priced right at $4.00?

I have to shop. Rock Auto is great but you have to find out shipping costs too. Say you want brakes for your Buick. Many choices but go with all same brand to avoid multiple shipping points. Still might not work. Customer service has been very good to me.

I've bought a lot of groceries at Aldi. I've never seen anything made outside the USA. I'll keep my eye open though.

Agreed.

Though I shop at ALDI's, I also shop at Kroger and Wall-Mart.

I can verify that ALDI's prices areoften, though not always, lower and quality is usually, though not always, lower.

95 Eagle Vision wiper arm drivers side
Rock Auto $54.79 plus shipping
Advanced Auto Parts $33.49 in the store
Dorman part number 42594 both places
I picked it up on the way to work today less than a mile out of my way total

1st time Rock Auto has been out of line on price
have bought parts for the Eagle before from Rock Auto and they have been way cheapier

I've gotten lots of parts for my vw from rock auto and I've saved several hundred by using them. I've also used them for a new side mirror for my wifes buick all 3 times she broke it off.

Some things dont pay, but if it's a bunch of parts theres a good chance you'll save a bunch.

You should try the stewed tomatoes from Aldis. They are perfectly seasoned and a treat right out of the can.

I buy lots of parts from them and have had really good luck. If you spend a little time matching up parts that are shipped from the same place you save a lot of money. I run mostly stuff that is 10-15 years old and I think they buy a lot of new old stock stuff at a bargin and pass it along to the customer. If thats the stuff you have you can save a buch. I do have everything shipped to a friends shop to save on shipping as the Fed Ex terminal is in the same town.

It is actually available to you. If you prepay the tax, and the price you pay is the final price. No surprise customs fee or tax when delivered.

For me Rock Auto is usually 1/2 price or less. But being in Canada, there are no savings on parts like rotors and drums because of weight. That said it doesn't cost anymore, simply not worth it. Few examples of the money I've saved. Iridium plugs for SBC 305. Locally, 11.xx each. Shipped for $67.xx $35 for the plugs, 28 for delivery 4.xx tax. Also got some plugs and wires for a 4cyl Camry. NGK wires from Rockauto are $25. Locally they're $100.

I fondly call Aldi's, MOLDY'S.

Last time I was in there half the refrigerated food was growing mold.

The time before that I bought a fresh loaf of bread with a sell by date of 1 week out, and a fresh package of sliced roast beef with a sell by date of 1 month out. Both were absolutely green with mold in my refrigerator the next morning.

I have not been in the store since.

My brother swears by the place. If he could buy roofing shingles there he would.

Aldi's have great produce, chocolate is the best most is made in Germany or Poland, excellent meats. deserts are very good. i can't stand the bread. they have quite a few products made in Germany that i try to buy, i have dual citizenship( US/German)
