Craigslist tractor ads with no phone #

I usually don't reply to ads that don't have a phone number but once in awhile the deal is too good to pass up. What frustrates me is that no one ever replies to emails or if they do it is a month later. Are some of these people really serious about selling their stuff or what?

I do not post my number on Craigslist because I got tired of being called by drunks in the middle of the night. It only takes a couple of times to get really annoying. I do reply to all emails I receive within 12 hours or less of getting them unless they say "do u have it?" or "what is your best price" or something else random that looks like spam to me. When I write to an ad on Craigslist I try to state in the subject line and in the email what the item is that I am asking about and to say it in such a way that the seller can tell I am a real person not a computer generated message.

Might depend on how you answer them, when I put in an ad and someone answers with some gibberish like
'where r u?pics?' I usually just delete it.I always like to answer with a decent sentence or two give them my phone number and offer if they'll send their phone number I'll call them at a time they set.

Some people just can't think that deeply. We were taught the old (who-what-where -when- why) stuff. A lot of todays crowd may have the lights on, but there ain;'t nobody home upstairs. Try sending text messages back and forth. What a joke that is!

Some of them are so good a deal that they're a scam, and they don't really want you to know where they are. But the machine is at the shippers, and as soon as they get a check, they'll tell the 'shipper' where to deliver it.....

This is just me, but when I list somthing on craigs I always list my phone #. I never respond to emails. To many tire kickers. If your not interested enough to pick up the pnone your not interested. Have not had any negitive phone calls. So far anyway.

Read the ads. It is a sad commentary on the American education system. Unable to describe an item, no details, poor spelling, no logic.

For sale horse. Names Blacy. good one. $500.

Left out. Breed, age, nnalert, broke to? color? Is Blackie black?

Amazing how often these fools can't spell the name of the town where they live. How do they get their mail?

I know what you mean. I think people think they will get scammer calls if they put a phone number on there. Truth is it's the emails that draw the scammers !
I shut my email off and put a phone number in all my ads.

I actually had good luck emailing on a snowblower for sale. They had a good picture and a good price. I put right in my subject,if it looks as good as the picture I'd take it and come right away with cash. No sooner logged off the dial up and the guy called me and I went right down and got it.

I trade a fair amount on Craigs, but I think sometimes when there"s no phone number or they don"t return emails we should realize how lucky we are they (probably a scammer) did NOT get in contact with us.

You gotta learn to let some of them go (the SUPPOSEDLY good deals) and move on!

Selling on Craig's or eBay is dealing with the public. So if you wanna make money, you just gotta deal with it.

As a buyer, it sure gets frustrated looking through the ads. When am I supposed to call? Most of my boozing is at mid nite or 6:00am, depending on what shift the wife is on. Do you really want a call then? If I wait until noon, then its sold.

Emails are so much easier as a buyer. I kinda bypass items without an email, figure they really aren't interested in selling.

Certainly a lot of give and take on both sides. I see a lot more 'abuse' by the sellers any more, poorly worded ads, no pics, no prices, no contact.... As the original poster says, just kinda turning into a poor deal. If you treat potential buyers so poorly, who do expect is going to show up at your door? And then complain about who tries to contact you - what do you expect?

Well Rusty Plow, you may have good or exlent hearing and can hear and understand a mumble on the other end. Me however I have poor hearing and can not even hear what the wife is saying standing right by me so if you do have something that I would want if you refuse to deal with me because I cannot hear, is that being a good person, I don't think so. And that is what you are saying you do.

I NEVER reply to craigslist ads that do not include phone numbers no do I reply to responses to my ads that do not.

Craigslist is a well known phishing site.

Not really sure what it is your tring to say? Your calling me a bad person because I prefer to deal only with phone calls? For what it worth, I don't hear worth a crap either. To many years working around equipment.

I don"t leave phone numbers,to many idiots call all hours of the night. If you can"t email for my phone number I don"t want your business anyhow.
Most of the people who ask for my number don"t call anyhow.

How can you value your privacy and then say you won't deal with someone that doesn't leave their phone number?

Maybe they value their privacy? If you put your phone number up on craigslist, it's then out there for everyone to see for all eternity.

I won't put my phone number in an ad. Instead I state that I will respond to all emails in a timely fashion, and I do. If the person seems serious enough then I take the next step and give him a phone number.

The nice thing about dealing with emails is you can weed out the freaks and geeks and tire kickers without having to deal with them directly.

I just ran across even worse.

I called last week about a spring tooth chisel like hobo, NC and the Howell's own and the folks with the ad put in the WRONG phone number. Poor lady that answered the phone said she'd been getting calls all day about that plow.

You are right on the money my friend.

yeah it"s kind a problem. I see a Troy Bilt tiller for sale and send e mail. this guy answer back but never plan on where or when to meet up so I can buy it. keeps put off for 4 weeks now.
driving me nuts.

Don't answer your phone...it might be big brother spying on you....or a bill collector....or a preacher trying to save you!

Or the hospital calling to say your child was in a bad accident and you need to come immediately.

RAY I am the same way. I keep something on there all time but put the words "E-mail me your phone number and I will call you back. That takes out a lot of spam and I do not have my phone number out there for the world to see. I cannot think of anyone putting their phone number in the add. To me one would have to be crazy to do so but I guess to each his own. I sell a lot of thing and have never had problems doing it this way.

I don"t usually answer adds without a phone number unless its something really rare or special. Too many no response for me. I emailed an add awhile back for a 300 farmall. Price was ok but no pic. It was over two weeks before I got a reply that stated that he thought it was sold but the buyer never showed up. He could have least answered my email letting me know he had a buyer but would let me know if it didn"t work out. I never answered his email as I wasn"t interested in dealing with an A**** like that. And I"ve been selling stuff for a long time with a phone # and haven"t had any problems. I"v had more problems with the email system.

I never post a number unless I'm listing something for someone else. Then I post their number.

In Nov I found an ad for a tractor cab that would fit my big tractor in the local area. No number. Sent an email and got a call from the owner in less than an hour. Guy was only 20 minutes away. I went and took a look and made a deal on the spot. Sure was nice having a decent cab with both doors on the old 1206 for blowing snow this winter. Bout a week after I bought that cab a guy I know was complaining in NAPA that he needed a cab but the only one he saw for sale didn't have a number listed. He was kinda upset when I told him I had got it.

Most ads I place on craigslist have no phone number...I always email them right back with my phone number so they can call me..

Last week I missed out on a cheap 560 Farmall with no phone number..I emailed him and he said the first guy backed out so I was up next..He never gave me a phone number...I emailed him back saying that I would take it...12 hours went by and I never heard from him so I emailed him again..Another 8 hours went by with no reply...Then both emails bounced back.

I emailed him again from the original ad and heard from him in one hour...He said the tractor was already sold..

If they don't want to post their # then at least they can reply. I put the item in the subject line and kindly ask them for contact info so that I can talk to them about it. I don't think this is unreasonable and I don't think they should have to call me when I am trying to buy from them. I should know better than to ask for advice on here!

If you would care about being fair you would use the email for people that cannot hear, I always include I have hearing problems so cannot use the phone, we don't all have someone to do the phone calls for us. It just says you are too lazy to read an email and untill you would respond in some way no one would ever know who you are or where you are. And for someone like that I would just wonder what else is wrong with it that you are not saying. I am saying nothing more.
