how to get the fan belt off with out taking the hyd pump coupler off we can disengage the pump but cant figuer out how to get it out its on our john deere 1010 crawler thanks for any help

I am pretty sure you have to take the pump coupler out/off. The dis-engage will not go far enough a part to let the belt through.

IIRC you have to undo the coupler. An option is to just cut the old belt off and use a Powertwist type belt, the ones you can build to length. Great belts BTW.

Grit your teeth, polish up your "magic mechanic words", drive it up on some good solid blocks. Drop the front of the belly pan, drain the hydraulic oil, disconnect the hydraulic hoses and remove the pump. The only other way is to remove the whole cowl and radiator, and you really don"t want to do that. Alternative is to try one of those expensive multi-piece belts. I have heard about them for years, but never saw one in person.

If you end up taking it apart, tie a second belt on it out of the way. We used to do that on our backhoes for the next time.

cut the old belt off
get a new link belt and wrap it around and connect it without taking everything apart
