Been a long cold winter here in New England but finally starting to warm up.
Wondering who here has burned the most cords this year.

I"m around 6 to date. A lot for this area....

My shed earlier in year.

Figure to have gone through about 16 cord. Neighbour was saying the other day we have had coldest winter in a while due to temps being just a little lower than norm but with very few days with it above the norm resulting in a lower average. Still like your shed.

I have burnt alot of wood this year, dont know how much but its ben a long winter and it's not over yet! BTW you have a nice looking wood shed!!

I'd think a better contest might be who burned the least.
It amazes me that the Swedes,up there in the same latitude as Alaska can heat a house on less than two cords of wood a year.

Nice wood shed! Don't keep track of my wood, just keep cutting. I have piles all over over, put some in a shed last summer, takes a big pile to measure 2 cords. We probably use 4-5 cords in a Jotul (very efficient). Older well insulated 1500 square foot house. We were gone 3 weeks in the coldest weather, have nat gas backup.

I have burned about 17 standard cords since the last week in October, about 50 face cords as they count them around here. We live in a converted barn that is over 6,000 square feet and while we don't use nearly all of it in the winter we do have to keep it from freezing. It is pretty silly but at least with the wood boiler it is pretty cheap to heat. We also get domestic hot water from the boiler.

I live in NH.and burn 4-1/2 to 5 cord a year and heat my water off the oilburner at about 150 gals. a year.I use a comforter parlor type stove and cut my wood from my property mostly beach trees with the bark disease. BTW Tech 7 at 16 cord a year what are you heating and if I were to guese are you using a out door boiler.

Jeeze, 16 cords ! That must keep you in shape.

Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, I have a few good size oaks on the ground to cut up.

Probably around 5 or 5 1/4 cords so far & will burn another 1 cord. We heat our 3400 sq ft home from Sept to May. We are in Yukon Canada north of the 62nd parallel.

Not really. Thoger's is an old two story house in a small town. He bought it because of its age. He has it insulated real well,I'll give him that, but he uses less than 2 cords a year.

Had 3 and 3/4 on this years pile, have about a half cord left, if this cold weather doesen't give up soon may even run out. Also used about 50 gallons of fuel oil in the furnace. Installed a new wood furnace last summer, it has a forced draft set up on it, burns clean and gets more heat out of the wood than the old one did, it also heats our hot water, the new set up works like a champ. Been heating with wood for 34 years.

10 dump truck loads. The truck is an 18 foot silage truck. Outdoor wood boiler with a 5 foot long 3 foot wide firebox. I heat 2 large houses 3 apartments and a 60x60 shop with it.

I use about a pickup load a week when it's cold. When it gets above freezing during the day I can run a fire in the morning and one in the evening and keep the house nice and cut my use down.

I keep it up and I won't have to cut any next winter.

Between my house and my parents, both with outdoor boilers, we"ve used 20 cords so far. Usually 20 will do it, but I started on a 10 cord pile I was planning to save for next winter last weekend. Winter just won"t leave MN this year.
