Well, That part that is cracked is not the backing plate. Whatever it is called "BOLTS" to the backing plate, Sorry, I don"t know where you could get one, Maybe try a heavy truck shop.

rusted nuts-yes it doe's have 2 bolts-it also has a rivet that does not want to let that part seperate

Can you read the casting numbers on that part? I have a couple of new ones from that era that would be for either a GMC of an IH truck. I'll see if I can locate them.

Well ok my bad, you well need to find the ID plate on the rean end housing, Find out the brand name, model #, then go from there. Where are you from, I'm in nw Pa. Have a friend that might have one, don't know if he would want to part out a good rear end.

KB, I have two of those, new, in the box. NOT sure if they are for LH or RH side. If they would happen to fit, the price will be RIGHT!

If NOT, the part numbers and manufacturer will lead us to a source. I will post back within a day as to what I have.

Also, here is a phone # for a long time GMC dealer whose has a partsman who is a walking encyclopedia of this stuff. Call (866) 928-0107 and ask for Marv. Another resource, (701) 839-6537, ask for Dan. Either will ship about anywhere with a CC payment.
