Sold some hay to BIL, delivered it on gooseneck, used his JD 5103 with FEL to unload it. That's the model made in India, or assembled in India according to the tag. It worked fine. Good responsive JD hydraulics, good power steering, comfortable to operate, front axle appears to be heavy enough. Loud diesel rattle when lugging cold. Oh, it cranked fine in the morning cool, but not really cold enough for atest.

I have an early 5303 with a loader. I have cranked it many time in the 20"s to feed cows. It has never failed to start.

ANY diesel engine will start at -20 "IF" you plug it in, warm it up, boost the battery, add some starting fluid........

None of mine will start on their own in +20degree. they all need help of some kind.

My MF265 starts the best and it needs some nose candy at least.

Have they changed the engine parts in these new rebuild kits? We have a 4430 and my 4020 that me and my cousin rebuilt in college they will start in anything if the batteries are up.
