can anyone help figure out this car i just got.. it rained 2 inches plus here, the 96 crown vic has water on the driver and passenger front floor , it was not driven anywhere , all windows and doors tite shut ,..my bet is it is comin from windsheild area ..

There is a fresh air intake under the plastic mesh under the windshield wiper. It has drains on both ends.My best guess is drains are plugged with leaves, etc. and running over.Either that or the firewall is rusted through.

bet thats it ,,this car stayed in shade of trees , no garage ,,now how do i get in there to clean it out ?

what kind of top does it have? If vinyl, water gets under the vinyl & rusts thru the roof, then floods the front of the car. If you have been chalking around the windshield to no avail, may be the roof is gone. Unless you want a convertible, that is the end of that car.

We used to use black tape on the end of a garden hose then tape that to sections of the roofline and turn it on to find the leak area. Gerard

Raise the hood. The plastic trim at the bottom of the windshield, should be fasten in place with some small screws or with plastic plugs that pull out. Be careful to NOT damage the windshield. I replaced the glass in a Taurus because I hit the lower edge with a screw driver.

We had a '96 Grand Marquis; it wasn't quite as bad as my '55 Ford - but just about. It didn't leak, but everything else started falling apart at 95,000 miles. Repairs would have cost more than the car was worth, so we traded it on a new Tundra that is now 10 years old with 117,000 miles on it and is in great condition.

Check to see if you have lost any coolant. Your heater core may be leaking. Had that problem years ago on my 1981 Mercury Cougar. Hal

What he said, then find the drain hole and run compressed air through it to clean it out. I had the same problem with the 1992 Grand Marquis I used to have. For some reason every year or two the hole on the passenger side would plug and start flooding the floor boards. It was parked inside and didn't have leaves covering it either.

There's a reason why the cops beat the crap out of them everyday for 150K to 200K and can still chase down speeders.

My bet is its either the plugged cowl drain or possibly the windshield seal. Body shop or glass shop can remove the windshield and replace the seal for you.good luck.

One other thing I have seen mentioned. If you have a sunroof, the drains on those can get plugged too.
