I have a lot of garlic that a friend gave me and I would like to learn how to dry and powder it but none of my cook books or canning books tell me how to do that. I have recipes for canning it but I have enough done as is so would like to dry and powder.
Thanks

First I sliced the garlic and dehydrated it. Then I put it in my blender on the chop cycle until it was powder. It is great, much more flavor than what you buy in the stores. You just have to deal with the whole house smelling like garlic while you do it. Our home has that great smell from July until the end of August. I hang the garlic on the front poech to dryand the door is open all summer so we get full benefit of it all.
Have fun and enjoy,

I slice mine up & let it dry for a day or maybe two until it gets kind of brittle or to where it breaks rather than bends when you try to bend the slices ( if that makes sense ) & then I put it in a old coffee grinder ( but don't over grind it ) & then put it on a cookie sheet & let it dry for another day or so & you are good to go. It is a whole lot better than store bought garlic powder. Gerald
