Is there any neat places to stop between Omaha and denver[ 80-76] . Old tractor or car musiums or anything else of interest.Have a few hours to spare thanks 435

Pioneer Museum isn't very far off the highway, but I think it takes at least a full day. Ogalalla has Boot hill. Lexington has the Military Museum, Gothenberg has the Pony Express. As far as tractors, I can't think of any but someone closer may come up with some.

DARN...I sold the farm in 2007, that was at Big Springs, NE. I80-76. You could have stopped and saw a whole 1/4 mile of OLD JUNK.

Stuhr mueseum at Grand Island has some tractors and steamers. Pioneer village in Minden off I80 about 15 miles has some. Chevyland off I80 at Elm creek if they are open and the archway across the interstate at Kearney is neat but no tractors.

SAC museum at the Ashland interchange on the west side of the Platte River. Stuhr Museum in Grand Island. Pioneer Village at Minden. I'd forget the arch over the Interstate at Kearney. It's nothing but a tourist trap that's going bankrupt. (We went through it once, and I was underwhelmed).

Just west of Kearney at the Elm Creek exit is a Chevyland with a lot of awesome cars in it, but last I heard you now need an appointment.

Buffalo Bill's home base at North Platte.

I'd recommend the Tractor Test Museum at Lincoln. It's on the east campus. When you find the east Campus off Holdrege st look for the tall brick smokestack. The track and lab & Museum is right beside it. Then I'd Leave Lincoln on West O st which turns into Hwy 6. That's a good route, not a lot of traffic and will take you through Hastings & Minden. Hastings has a nice museum, The largest display of whooping cranes in the world http://hastingsmuseum.org/exhibits/bird-dioramas-serial-collection
And yes, Don't miss Harold Warp's Pioneer Village at Minden. It's right on the Highway. They have building FULL of tractors and other neat stuff. But take your coat. They don't heat the main building very well and many of the out buildings are unheated. US 6 will take you on to Sterling CO and back to Interstae 76 for wherever you want to go or for a less traveled byway once you get to Holdrege take the "Highline" NE23 which will route you through to Hollyoke CO and US6. Happy motoring!

If you take the Highline through Holdrege you'll come through my small town west of there. If you do and have a few minutes get ahold of me. I'm a mile off of hiway 23.

Stop and eat at Ole's in Paxton NE. It's a nice place, good food. Minden is a must see, but have a day to devote to it. The Stuhr museum is also very good. Maybe pull off on a country road 5 miles from the interstate and just sit and enjoy the quiet.

Sorry, but Kearney has the smallest store out of all of them. Still a good place to shop though.
The original store is out in western NE.

Kearney was a major disappointment. The original is at Sydney, exit 56, I think, I-80.

There's the Golden Spike Tower at the rail yard in North Platte. Overlooks the rail yards, I like to go up and just sit and watch the trains.

Also in North Platte is Traveler's Rest, and the Lincoln County museum right around the corner from it.
