Frosty morning pics a few days ago.

Pics 3 & 4 I took out of a second story window. I think I like that perspective.

Looks like Christmas card pictures. Thanks for posting. Please keep that wintery stuff up north!

We have a saying here, that if you have fog frozen on the trees lik that you will be having freezing rain within 24 hrs.
Nothing prettier than a morning like that.

What make is that hay loader in picture 2? The small wheels on the back make me think of New Idea. A week ago fri there were 2 New Ideas that were pretty much parts machines sold for $100 & $150 at auction and a good looking John Deere also sold for $700, The amish from a different location than the ones I work with bought all of them, brought too much for the good one and did not want the parts units. Ended up buying the rust in a couple of steel wheel hay rakes and a steel wheel mower for refurbishing for use.

We had a morning like that last year. It was 2 below 0 and fog til 10 o'clock then the sun came out. Picture 4 calander quality!

Leroy,

I have to ask my husband - will try to remember to post back what it is. This one was at the far end of our farm when we bought the place.

We just brought it up to the building site for yard art last year.

Beautiful photos, and you were able to include some "rust" in there. I love to see a snow or ice covered tree when the sun hits it like that. Thanks for sharing.

John B.,

Thanks.

It is just a wagon running gear with a flatbed/tabletop on it. I call it the "Wable".

We pull it behind our Cub Cadet to pick up sticks around the yard (flatbead), or to hold food when cooking around the campfire (tabletop).

I am thinking it used to have a hayrack on it, once upon a time.

Phil,

Thank you.

The tractor must be camera shy... I see it is hiding behind the Bridal Wreath on the last photo. :)

I just love a new morning snow like that before the dogs and cows get it all tracked up. Gotta get up early, though, to get pictures that perty....

donjr.,

Usually have to beat our 13 year old outside... or she will track up the entire building site. :)

Nice pics; I really like the hay loader. Can't remember if I ever saw one work. I think Grandpa pitched all his hay by hand, both on the wagon and into the mow.

Sure looks like the New Idea we had as a kid. Local Amish bid crazy on loaders. I have hauled a few for them. John Davis's widow sold a nice Case loader to one of my neighbors. Hauled that home for him.

Remember father and uncle using one a few times. Was a lot of work even with the loader. Wasn't long after that, they went to a custom baler and a few years of that, and uncle got a JD 50 and a JD 14T baler. Still a few Amish use tham around here, but even they have figured out how to pull balers with horses. Ah, progress!

Those pics of the trees covered with hoarfrost are beautiful. But if you have to cut wood that morning you get a lot of it down your neck.
