I got a card in the mail from Speed Connect selling internet service. $26.95/ month for up to 7GB data. Is anyone using this? How is it working out? I'm paying about $100/ month for phone and DSL internet thru the phone co. Wondered if this would be better. Chris

Your phone co may not have a data limit.

The offer you got has a data limit.

If you have more than one computer in use, that data limit may hit you hard, ESP if you are into downloading any video at all.

Just something to be aware of.

Is this their hotspot service or the broadband setup? Hotspot often carries a bit of an extra fee, like $10 a month.....

Broadband will need an antennae that will cost, or need a longer contract to cover its price.

What speed is your current dsl at?

I had a similar deal, phone and 1meg dsl rural, about $100. Then they came along with a 5meg plan after an upgrade, phone and that are now about $60 a month, pretty good deal.

Unless all you do is browse this forum 7G maybe too small. I burn up 10G per month without even thinking about it. I have Exede sat by Wildblue. It works good now except for the natural latency of a sat service but it was horrible for the first three months. Soon as I find something better I'm off satellite.

Make sure you have a 30 day trial period.

I live in an area where DSL isn't available (30,000 ft from the switch). There is no cable TV out here. My choices are dialup, satellite, Xanadoo, or Clear. I am using Clear (not to be confused with Cleartalk cell service). Getting 3 Meg down and 1 up for $30 a month. I dropped my landline telephone service that was costing me $80 a month for basic service and we get along fine with cellphones.

As far as I know, there is no limit on data that I have seen, or I'm not getting close to it one way or the other.

Same boat here. Internet went up $20 this month at Centurylink. Been looking at other options and haven't decided what to go with yet. I have been watching the usage and don't think the 7GB plans are big enough. I found this deal from Dish network but haven't heard anything about how good it is. Also called a local provider but they were at 7GB also and $2 for each GB over that. Cost was $46.

I am also on Clear. No data limits, Reasonable speed even using three on a wireless router it is OK. With two running one can do video. Jim

I have seen the Dish setup and it worked good. It was however limited to 5gb per month with a bonus 5gb that had to be used from 2 AM to 8 AM. That would be OK for normal surfing and email but would not allow movie watching etc. More gb's were available at $25 per 3gb.

ATT phone, unlimited long distance and DSL is $65.00 per month, that is the package they changed us to when we started the DSL, the phone and long distance was higher than that before so I was surprised.
