Rough dusty concrete

Has anybody ever used a grinder to smooth rough concrete? I poured my shop floor pad and it shows, rough and it is dusty too. With hitting it with a floor grinder help? I suppose I should use a densifier too? I guess I'm just looking for somebody that has been down this (dusty) road before!

When I built my garage, shop, I had a brushed Finish on the concrete. It is less prone to slipping. smooth is not always the best.

big box store have an expoxy kit to coat the floor. My SIL did his, says it makes it a lot easier cleanin up spills.

Concrete is certainly not my field of expertise but I have dealt with a couple of dusty pads. I don't think grinding the surface will improve anything if your complaint is dust. There are a few reasons concrete can be dusty with improper finishing accounting for most cases. There are times that it is difficult keeping up with the pour as it cures. Then there are other times it seems like you are wasting a lot of time sitting and waiting on time for the next finishing step. Many times when a non-skid surface is desired, the mud is screed, float and broomed or left as is. Big mistake. Regardless of final finish desired, you should not skip a step or rush to final trowling. It sounds like a waste putting the steel to it then turn around and broom but troweling brings the portland to the surface and makes it tough and dust free.
If I understand your problem,I would pressure wash then skim coat with sand mix rich in portland then carfuly control drying.
I have never tried it but have been told thre are resins available which help with dusty concrete.

My cellar floor was dusty after I poured it. I applied a sealer and it fixed the problem. That was 20 years ago. The sealer came with a hazard warning and I don't remember why, but I do have the container so I could check.

I used a cheap chinese diamond cup disc thing to fix my 2nd to last pour up next to a wall and the vent pipes. Worked well except it looks way better than the previous good areas.

I rented a rotary stone grinder and did my basement floor--came out pretty smooth---then apply a penetrating sealer.

I worked for an industrial floor resurfacing co. for 32 yrs. spreadin 1/4 trowel epoxy down in in every factory you could think of, for the last 10 yrs. we been takin it all up and polishing the roughest wore out concrete u ever seen and with diamond stones and pads 40 horse elec. motors floor polishers and u can see the light thats 40 or 50 ft. up in the air reflect in the floor , and then we spray sealer on it , been dion quite good with this product in residential and commercial, the problem with epoxy on garage floors or slab with a water problem u will have the epoxy lifting off , cheap way to go is go rent a floor machine use diamond cups or the 2x4 stones like the masons use to fit that machine buy some cheap sealer put it in a 2 gal. sprayer and spray it evenly most of the epoxy floors we tore off are german owned and they told us we dond have epoxy in germany we have polish smart guys didnt know epoxy is harder tham concrete and it last longer
