i am looking at a used 665 Farm trac tractor, fwd w/ loader. has anyone had any exper. with these? what are your opipns and likes or dislikes about these tractors. i've read they use several parts of older Ford tractors , engines etc. any comments will be appreciated.

made to resemble a ford. i looked at a new once, casual glance was all i needed. crude castings, poor mated surfaces and the cheap price was enough for me plus the country of production was india(?). observed that not many left the dealer either so i assume others had the same thoughts.

Where will you get parts? Farmtrac came along after Long-then Montana. All 3 have gone belly up.Factory in Tarboro NC has been scrapped.Might be a good tractor but a 50 dollar part could cause you to have a pile of scrap iron.

Parts are still available. Some of the past Farmtrac dealers will order them or you can get them online. I had a 675 for 9 years and after Farmtrac went belly up in the US I ordered what parts I needed from ITP. Farmtrac tractors are still being made in India. Just not sold in the US. The folks at ITP were very helpful in getting what I needed and even sent a calendar right before Christmas. Here's the link.

Lots of Farmtrac tractors in my area. They have held up well and many are over 10 years old now. I know of a 665 like you described local. It's used daily feeding cows in the winter. Puts up hay for about 80 head of cows. I've seen it pulling a 5 shank chisel plow. The engine in that model and the ones of lower HP below it are the old Ford escort design that were sold in Europe. Many of the same parts of the Ford engines sold in the US will fit them. But there are some differences.
If I needed a tractor that size I'd buy one if the price is right. I had a 675 and it has a Perkins engine. I traded for some equipment when I no longer needed it and it had 1,800 hrs on it. Broke a tie rod end,a top link(my fault)and a fuel lift pump. Other than that it was oil and filters.

Talk to folks that have owned them to make your decision. Guy I work with just picked up a low hr. 535 for $7500 with 700 hours on it. He uses it to feed daily and really like it. He's impressed that it'll start in winter without any assistance from heaters or glow plug. Although it has a glow plug he's never had to use it.

Farmtrac had a good thing going here but the Indian CEO's stole 55 million and left the dealers high and dry. They also skipped the country and were never prosecuted. NC state att. general tried to get several of them to come back to NC. but they wouldn't make the trip. Shame they could have been locked up.

This part of the country they pretty much are thought of as cheap junk, dealers will hardly trade for one and auction they go pretty cheap. (Tennessee)

Neighbor has a FarmTrac 60.He's had it 14-15 years now.Other than a radiator seam that refuses to stay fixed and a broken spring in the injection pump, its been a good tractor.Reason I say good is this guy could break an anvil,he's awful hard on equipment.
As far as parts go,the longest he's waited on parts is about a week.
