Ford 9-N or 2-N

My tractor is a 9-N or a 2-N but I don"t know which one. I swear that the serial number starts with a 9. It reads 9N281596. I have been told that the serial number makes it a 2-N. If this is right, why would it read 9-N? How can I find out just what this tractor is? Thanks for any help in this matter.

If I am not mistaken the last 9N built was serial number 9N105374

The 2N used the 9N prefix. Strange but true.

So, even though it reads 9-N before the serial number it is a 2-N if the serial number reads
9-N 281596? thank you very much

The 2n we have has 2n on the axle housing the 9n we have has nothing on it.
