This is our sled hill in the pasture. We went down it on A 6" wood tobbagon, it goes pretty quick conditions were near perfect 32 degrees with sun. Just a nice day in Fulton co. Illinois.

We had a hill similar in the old hickory tree field. We could get a good long ride on a 6' tobbogan, car hood. aluminum flying coaster or anything else that would slide. An old neighbor would come over sometimes with his old Motoski and drag us back up the hill on the toboggan or whatever we were using, made life a lot easier!

One of my high school classmates lived on a farm that had its buildings about halfway up a long steep hill. All the land around the buildings was open farmland. A couple of times my classmate had sledding parties there. Her Dad would run a crawler tractor up and down the hill to pack the snow and make a good sledding course.

It was amazing! On a metal runner sled, I estimate that I was able to get up over 60 miles per hour, and the downhill run was nearly a mile long. If there were bumps, you would go airborne for short distances, and it was fairly hard to control the sled. I have never been that fast on a sled, before or since. Unfortunately it was also a long walk back to the top of the steep hill, so you couldn"t make very many runs in an afternoon. They were some of the best parties I attended in high school--great fun!

Looks great. When there is no snow you have to improvise a little. We burn up two or three sleds a year like this. Either they crack or we burn through the bottom of them.

I buy them every spring on closeout.

Only had two good sledding days here in Mid-Michigan this year so far.
