I have a M206 MM I'm restoring and the big U spring around thegear shift lever,? which way does it go and what is the best way to install it.I have the steering colume removed so I can see it .thanks

ar mule man, I'm guessing that you are working on a minneapolis moline tractor, if you are, you are looking at the engine model and not the tractor model. The tractor model plate should be by your right heel if seated on the tractor. Also just remove the shifter assembly so you can clean the area for the spring and the two locating holes in the cover, but before you replace the spring remove shifter shaft and replace the oring that seals that shaft. Also if you find a model plate it might say A1 for a 335 or B1 for a 445 model if I remember right, though it might have jetstar or 4 star also, at least thats what I'm familiar with. I got my spring in with the cover on but later had to take cover off for the oring. good luck chris
