I'm about 10 miles from you. I'm about 3 miles west of Landisburg. Route 233 south. Shaeffers Valley. You can't see my place from the hard road.

Not to highjack this thread, but since we have the attention of PA folks here, I would like to ask a question regarding farmland rental in PA. Specifically, I have 7 acres of mixed grass/clover hay. Most years with normal precipitation it would yield at least 2 cuttings. First cutting yield should be approximately 500-600 small square bales. I've searched the web to try and find what this land may be worth to someone who would be interested in making this hay and have not been able to find any accurate rates. What is the going rate in your location for hayland rental? Do most folks charge a per acre cost or work on "shares", like 1/3 owner, 2/3 farmer? Thanks for any and all replys.

Wayne:
Based on your location description, I have no doubt I've been past your place a number of times. At first you threw me a little when you referenced Albright's off of 850. I always thought Jerico Road was off Huckleberry Rd. over by the Perry Co Archer's Club. I'd enjoy getting together sometime. Do you show any of your tractors at Lupfer's Grove when they have that show each September? I've always loved the old 2-cylinders. I had 2 John Deere's, a '44 hand start B, and a 1958, 530. I probably committed an unforgiveable sin when I sold them to buy a more "modern" tractor. My 530 may still be sitting on the lot at Perry Power Equipment in Loysville. I will be fully retiring in about 2 years, so maybe I'll find another one then for a project when I have more time.
