Computer or forum question?

What do I need to do to my computer for the subjects I click on to be highlighted so I know I had viewed them previously?? This forum(YT) threads were being highlighted along with the classified ads I'd viewed but not any more. Previously viewed subjects get highlighted on other websites such as CL & other tractor sites. I'm confused & a computer dummy. Thanks,Jim

I have an apple and don't know if that makes a difference or not.
I have a history drop down window and at the bottom of it is a
one liner: Clear history.

Clearing history removes the cookies that were placed on topics
you visited thus highlighting them. So you have to surf slower to
find what you found before and once visited again, will highlight
again.

Computers are like people, some have shorter memories than others. I have an old e-Machine, sometimes it will highlight for awhile and then it won't. I gave up on it and just go with whatever it wants to do.

Sometimes an computer update may set the computer to clear history upon shut down and all highlighted titles would then clear, but that would be the case on all websites/forums.

After a long while, computers can get confused. Often if you
'clear the history' and clear away all the temp files, it gets good
again and will act as you remember.

These are options in your browser menu, often under 'tools'.

That is a good first start to any such problems, it may easily be
something else, but this is the easiest.

A software update to Windows or your antivirus may have
changed some security setting that erases all history every
time you exit the browser. Hard to say how to change that one
little setting without knowing your exact software. It's simple,
but buried in the menu...

It is NOT your computer. Do not do anything to it. In fact, there is nothing you CAN do. The problem is with the YT site.

When I am on this site, I experience the same exact functions as you have. I can go to ANY other discussion forum and everything works just like it should.

I donno. On my iPad right now, my laptop, and my old XP
desktop, the one I read stay a different color that the ones I
haven't read. But only the ones I click on, not the ones below it
not clicked on.

I am in classic view mode.

I've had the problem when everything returns to the same
color, and it typically is a one time deal when the cookies or
history get tossed.

I guess there are a lot of details as to what exactly is
happening for you.

In your browser options (like internet explorer) you will find a setting for deleting your temporary files when you close the browser. Set it to about a week or so, and your links should stay highlighted for that long. Also, make sure it doesn't start in a private session every time. There's also a setting to change colors of links you've visited.
