Massey Harris 1949 44K

Like most I guess I grew up on a farm, this tractor was my first toy, I was put to work on it as soon as I could climb up on it. I'M A disabled nam vet and I want to own one of these tractors before I leave this earth. I have looked for a couple 0f years for one I could afford. found one in a barn out in the middle of no where. the man who owns its became disabled and hasn't been on it in years but says its runs fine. the tractor looks good and looks like it has sit in the barn most of its life all metal good, no rust I get the n-news but that doesn't help me with the massey, the only tricks I know is the smoothness of the lift with weight on it and how long its holds it up after you have turned the motor off. I also know about rocking the rear wheels on the fords, but that help me on the massey? I called a dealer and he said there wsa no 44k so I wondering if the man is telling the truth. most masseys I have seen pictures of have the Massey Harris decal on the side of the hood which this one does but no 44 decal near the steering wheel and this bothers me. the tractor dealer says there was only a 44, 44D, and 44 Special if so how do you tell. I really need one of you men who know about these tractors to please tell me what to look for on this tractor and how to tell what it is and the things to look for, for some reason around here all anybody wants to talk about are those N-Fords. I got this computer just for information on the massey and I don't really understand it yet, had to get someone to show me how to to this message. oh yes 1800.00 is what the man is asking for the tractor. If you could help me my address is Michael Durdid, P.O.Box 26, Eva, Tn. 38333 and my phone No. is 731-584-4588 and please leave your number I don't caller ID. I would appreciate any help you could give me or info. you could send mr. This is my frist time and I don't want to get burnt right of the door. the tractor looks good I just don't know whar I am looking for, thanks again, may all of you have a happy blessed day.

Google Massey Harris 44K, There was a Nebraska test done on one. So there is a 44k model massey. Dont Quote me on it but I think the "K" stands for kerosene burning engine. Bill
