Oil leak problems with car. Toyota

Ok so I have this 1991 Toyota Corolla with the 1.6 engine. Has never used much of any oil but now all at once it started leaking oil some place up front. This is the dual over head cam engine and my thinking is the front timing cover oil seal has gone bad. Also thinking if I replace it I might as well do the timing belt at the same time.
So is it likely that this seal has just up and went bad now that the boy is driving it 55 mile per day to go to work??? Has 167,??? mile on it so maybe due for a few things.

Rich, thats ok, they just showed one of these on Top Gear, on History channel, and in on of the challenges they do, requirement was to drain oil and maybe other fluids, to see which of three cars would make it the longest, the early 90's might have been a '92 went laps without oil, unreal.

Some humor, but that sounds typical with the age and miles, I was driving a '91 model a 3 years ago, 30 miles each way, good MPG as it was a Capri w/turbo, was like 30 MPG + or -, hopefully you get it sorted, I had to go out and get a payment, darned thing got ahead of me on repairs, 15 years of service, 140,000 + miles, engine still ran great.

Could also be those dual overhead cam seals ?

most likely crankcase ventilation , PCV. it will blow all your gaskets if not working properly

I checked and cleaned that today just so I can be sure that is not it but yep thought about that one

Give it a good power washing, then look for fresh oil.

I would but in the type of weather we are having I do not think I want to stand at a car wash and do that but then again it is raining/snowing both at the same time and calling for up to 5 inches tonight

I would just add enough oil to get you to better weather. We need snow, send it up here.

Check the oil pressure sending unit. I had one to leak oil.

Ya looked at it I think today as in front right side of the engine just above the oil filter and it seems ok but not sure if that is the oil or water temp sensor

Well at 1-2 quarts a day going 55 miles it is going to start adding up fast. I have all the seals as in crank shaft and cam and new timing belt sitting here just need a couple days where we do not have to have the car
