Got a letter in the mail explaining this , shows me how much they will pay for each component. Did anyone else on here recieve such a letter?

I've never owned a Ford 6.0, and maybe never will, but it doesn't surprise me.

A fellow who used to work for me is now head of maintenance for a fleet of over 50 ambulances scattered over the State of Nebraska.

He told me once that when he took the job, the ambulances were all Fords with the 6.0 engine. He said they had so many problems, they swapped all the units out for Chevies and cut their maintenance costs to less than half.

An emergency vehicle is the last vehicle you need to have chronic engine problems, but to be fair ambulances are rough duty for engines. They're either idling for long periods of time or pedal to the metal down the road.

Yep, I got one, took a quick look at it, didn't apply to me so filed in the trash. I bought the truck used and it hasn't given me any problems yet. Probably won't start now tommorrow!

Can't imagine why they would put a diesel engine in an ambulance. You want something that will always start, and that has good acceleration for "4 bell" runs- neither of which is a diesel's strong suit. And at what they charge for an ambulance run, fuel economy certaily shouldn't be a factor. The should all be big block gassers.

Who sent you the letter? I have a 2005 6.0 that blew the first engine at 78k and the second one at 117. I would like some relief on the bank account because Ford said so sorry because the second one was out of warranty.

Daughter is a paramedic. Not sure of brand or engine, but they have a diesel they can't leave idle-messes with the urea set up!

I will get the info when I am home, and post a number. Anyone who can prove the repairs, although its limited to egr, oil cooler, egr cooler, turbo, and injectors, can recieve compensation after this is done. Even if the work was done UNDER WARRANTY, you will still recieve benefits is what the letter says. I had four, yes FOUR EGR coolers replaced on my 04, and one on my 06. Three under warranty, the rest out of pocket. I finally did the delete.

Every ambulance I have seen in the past few years here in England has a 5 cylinder Mercedes Diesel. No big gas engines in Europe in commercial use.

Too bad some of these class action lawsuits are not filed pro bono. The lawyers get all the rewards and the plaintiffs just get a coupon for some cash off on the next visit to the dealership.
A lot of people participated in the class-action lawsuit against Briggs & Stratton and were bragging about it...until they got the coupon for $17 off the purchase of their next law mower.

I used to be around ambulances a lot and there was always a switch on the dash to put it onto high idle, which was a lot higher than the high idle that my 6.0 goes to automatically.

They went to diesels when the Ford Gas ambulance were catching on fire. You wont find an ambulance around here that is not parked in a heated garage either.

does it apply if i bought it used?
just spent 7000$ on repairs
i had it 6months when the injectors started going and then everything went. my truck is a 2004 with 112,000 miles. also found out my truck has an egr delete kit on it. so im guessing that before me it had troubles as well.
