This is probably a stupid question with an obvious answer, but here goes!
I posted pictureas of my traction engine on this forum several days ago and had a lot of response. 1 poster wants to contact me with questions, how do I give him my E-Mail address without posting it
on the forum for the world to see?
Can someone help, please?

If you are using classic view you can enter your email address under your name and above the subject of any post you make to this site. I do not know how modern view works.

(quoted from post at 07:46:12 02/25/13) You can enter your email in your profile screen.

If you desire for someone to be able to email you from either forum(Modern or Classic) you'll need to open your email box on both forums. As Greg stated to do so on Modern go to your profile and click yes on this.
Always show my e-mail address: Yes No

Phil,

Be careful...I opened my email here. Then received an email through YT and after I opened it - my two year old computer died bigtime. Trashed the hard drive and the mother board. Could be it was a coincidence, but I am leary of email now. (Thankfully, I had all my documents and photos backedup to an external hard drive or they would all have been lost.)

I would at least check the person's profile to make sure they are long time users.

Phil when you post or reply to something you have the option of inserting your email just below your YT name/handle. I have user from here contact me all the time and never had a problem.

Sweetfeet: I get emails all of the time through here. I never have had a problem. The way they are relayed here makes it very unlikely that any thing could get through.

When you put your email on your post in the box provided it does not get published on the site. You get a relayed message from YT site. It will have the persons email included in it. If you do not reply the other person will never have your email address. So your email address is not passed around unless you give it to somebody.

I've never had much luck with emailing through this site or others that I frequent.

The danger is giving your email in "clickable" form- [email protected]. The bad guys have programs that will "harvest" them, and then the fun begins. Instead, spell it out- mike at gmail dot com. Nothing will harvest it, and recipient can easily translate it.

Let me try this, this is Classic view. You have to type your email address in the 3 line box under ADD A REPLY After you type your message in the box, scroll down the page,In heavy black letters it says EMAIL NOTIFICATION check the box, before you click on PREVIEW YOUR REPLY. Then when you SUBMIT REPLY, your post comes up with [Reply] [Send Email] in blue . If you want to reply to the poster on the forum click on [REPLY] if you want to send a private message thru Email click on [Send Email] in blue. You won't know the posters email unless he sends a reply from his Email service. I think that's how it works. I checked the EMAIL NOTIFICATION box so mine will come up [Send Email] in blue.

JD Seller,
Thanks. Others say they get a lot of emails too - so that must not have been the problem.
