O/T Funny how time goes by so fast

About 30 years ago we were dealing with a life insurance agent and the discussion came up about what this proposed policy we were looking at will be worth when we are 62 when we can opt to draw SS early. That seemed like a long, long time away, almost unfathomable. Well today I turned 62 and where did the time go? When I was a kid, an old timer who happened to be a WW1 vet told me the older we are the faster time goes by. He was so right. Now that I'm 62 retirement is the last thing I plan to do. In fact I've finally just reached cruising speed, so to speak. Anyway, my ultimate goal is 90. I'll let you know in another 28 years if I make it. LOL Jim

Happy Birthday Jim
Just turned 59 a couple of weeks ago.
Doubt I make 90 though - Cept the folks are 90 and still going.

Happy Birthday Jim. I am kind of shootin for 90 myself. Trouble is, I'll get there 6 years ahead of you. Have a good one Dale

Then you'll be 96 when I'm 90. You'll be sitting at the Spencer fair beside your antique 4440. LOL. I'll have my 4650 that was the newest tractor I owned in 2013. Jim

Congratulations! I have always believed that if you think young it helps you to stay young. In other words, don't sit around and say, "OMG, I'm getting old! I turned 74 in January and am planning on at least 26 more!

(quoted from post at 01:29:13 02/25/13) When I was a kid, an old timer who happened to be a WW1 vet told me the older we are the faster time goes by. He was so right.

I read somewhere that as we get older a day, week, month, etc. is a smaller and smaller part of our life than it was when younger and makes each one seem to go faster. To a 10 yr. old one year is 1/10th of his life, to me a year is just 1/57th of my life. Can you imagine if you were a so called immortal how meaningless each day/week/month/year would be?

You are about 4 months older than I am. High school class of "69, right? It seems to me that time passes faster the older I get, and that acceleration started in about 5th grade.

We all are going to get as old as we get. But I hope I do not have to endure 90"s. My Mom will turn 97 next week and she has a brother who is 99. Neither is very healthy, just more or less worn out. Mom has quite a bit of dementia and has to be in a nursing home (at $9000/month) and is really bothered by still being here. Uncle Bob is very lucid and is fun to talk to. But he says ALL of his friends have died and he is often pretty lonesome.

I hope to live as long as I can take care of myself and enjoy living. My Dad lived to see his 80th birthday, and to my knowledge, he was the oldest male in his bloodline. So I hope to live to be 80 and some more. But I am not sure I want to get way old. Watching others, it sure seems that a person"s 90"s are pretty tough times. Good luck!

I'm only 32, and it's not easy to remember I'm not 20 any more. And I'm already starting to believe that gettin old ain't for sissies.
