Speaking of getting ready for farming

We've got our neighbors sprayer, which he let the pump freeze last winter. He had a spare housing, but it broke the impeller inside the pump. It's an Ace pump- where's a good place to get parts for it? I'm hoping we can just buy it outright from the neighbor since he doens't use it anymore, then I'd have a little more freedom to make it work better for us.

I was also thinking of mounting the pump to the sprayer, instead of having it hang off the PTO shaft like it currently does- that's a lot of weight with a cobbled together PTO coupler, so it's got a really nice wobble to it when running...

That is if this site does not have sprayer parts. Heres hoping for a good spring! I'm ready!! Armand

Good idea. Dad used to "setscrew" his Ace centrifugal pump onto his tractor every time. When I got involved I mounted the pump on the sprayer frame where there was a pre-existing mount. Then any little old PTO shaft would do.

Can your tractor run a hydraulic spray pump? I was told my 1086 wouldn't be able to run one without overheating the oil but it seems to do fine. When you run a PTO shaft to a pump that's mounted on the sprayer you might run into chattering if you have to turn short. I do have an Ace pump mounted on my fenceline sprayer with a PTO shaft going to it and it works fine but because of the configuration of the sprayer tongue it can't have a very long PTO shaft on it. Makes for major chatter if I want to turn short. It has never given me trouble but I only put a few hours on it per year. Jim

Its a 3pt. sprayer so corners wouldn't be an issue. Gonna do some digging on the places mentioned. I know if we wait for our neighbor to fix it we'll miss out on spraying again.

Perhaps a new roller pump would be the way to go. As Fixerupper sayes hydraulic motors tend to heat up the oil. The ace pump is also a high volume pump so unless you have a 50 or 60 foot boom you probably don't need the gallons per minute delivery.....Ron

Its atleast a 40 ft. boom. Last year we put on a roller pinko we had and had to shut off 1/3 of the nozzles and it still didn't have enough to do it right.

We run a hyd. sprayer pump on a 706 and IT DOES NOT make the hyd.s get hot . we run a bale wrapper with my 806 a lot on forht cutting some years and have not had a problem , now on the olivers then yes due to the fact that they have a smaller hyd capacity . On the 1086 you have 15-20 gal. to warm up and as long as the oil cooler is doing it's job then it will take a long time to get it hot. As long as your pump it up to snuff i do not see a problem.
