my wife is expecting our 5th child sometime in june. I guess 5 is a large family these days. We always get asked are they ALL yours... or are they ALL yours TOGETHER? I am the youngest of 7. How many kids do you guys have and how many were in your family growing up?

We have a boy and a girl

I'm next to the youngest of 5; still 3 of us living. My wife & I had 2, which seemed right for us. We both wanted to do a good job raising those 2; neither of us wanted more kids.

All I can say is that decision has to be what feels right for you.

People of previous generations didn't have the options available to people now, if that is a good choice for you.

I have three and each of the three have two,we have a house full. There were 5 of us kids growing up, my dad had 8 sisters my mom had 6 brothers and sisters so we come from a big family. The last of the old folks family reunion there were 750 there and that wasn't all of them. My granddad on dads side had 14 brothers.

Mom was from a family of 13. Dad was from a family of 12. They had 5. My wife is from a mob of 16 (13 girls. That sends shivers up and down my spine) We had 3, they had 2,3 and 2. Oldest grand child now has 1.

My wife and I have a daughter then a son. We both come from a family of four children. My mom was #14 of 15. Her mom and dad were each married and had 5 children, their spouses each died then they met and married and had 5 more. Each had 10 but there were only 15 in the family. Her oldest half sister just turned 98 in January. My mom will be 85 next month. Dad was the youngest of 5. We all grew up on farms and my wife and I have a nice place in the country but work outside the home and rent the ground out.

I have one sister, she had a boy and a girl. I never had any. Didn't want to bring any children into this crazy world. Still don't know why people would want to bring children into today's world with the way things are going.

from the beginning of time people said i dont want to bring kids into this crazy world or how can we afford them...our parents all said it and somehow we all survived

I am the yougest of 5, wife is the 4th of 6. We have 3 , lossed one. After our third was born, my wife went into a magneseum deficient coma, and spent 3 days in the IUC. I came close to losing her, so I decided that 3 would be enough for us , and I went for unilatreral disarmament!Bruce

We have 1 daugther-2grandchildren
I am the eldest of three
my dad was the youngest of 9
my mother was the youngest of 4

my wife is an only child
her dad had two siblings
her mother had 5 siblings

Wow Bruce! Just shows how behind success there can be a story of survival. We so enjoy the pictures of your family working together.
My wife envys anyone who will push one of the garden seeders. She is short, weighs not a lot over 100#, and even though I turned the handle over, she hates it. She would much rather be bare footed and right down in the dirt on her hands and knees.

I have two daughters and one Grandson. I was the oldest of three. One brother and one sister. my brother died at age 43. My family name is about done as there are/were no males on my fathers side that had any sons except for my brother and me and my brother had no children.

Oldest boy out of 14 kids...my wife and I decided we would let someone else populate the world. We have enjoyed the freedom, but now with the truck farm a few workers wouldn't have been a bad idea......

I only have 2. I think people ask you those questions because the divorce rate is so high. People on their first marriage are now a minority.

Most of our friends are divorced, they didnt want to work out issues, figured it was easier to remarry. Now they have the same issues in their second marriage.

Mrs Kr. and I dated for five years before we decided to get married. Of course we have arguments. But we work through them. Had a "discussion" Friday night... her a new patio set or the new Thompson M1927 I want.

Wife is the youngest of 8.
I am in the middle of 5.
We have 4,...2 boys 2 girls
No grandkids,..i don't see any in the future either

We have 3,had another one but lost her 30 years ago. My folks had 7,lost a younger sister soon after she was born.

I'm one of 4. Dad was one of 4, mom had a brother but lost him at age 8, hit by a car.

3 became the most popular number in our family- my sisters had 3, 3 and 4; We have 3, and our two older boys have 3 each. Youngest girl has only been married a couple of years, so hasn't started yet.

im one of two, have one son..my neice is twelve, and the only female born into our family for over a hundred yrs..

Wife and I have 3 kids. I'm the 3rd of 4, wife is oldest of 3. My Dad is the oldest of 12, and my Mom is the oldest of 8 (all girls!)

Our family is very small. Both my wife and I are only children. We have two daughters but they have no aunts, uncles or cousins.

I am the oldest of 3, wife is the 2nd of 4. We are trying, this thread brought up the what is a large family, wife says 4 isn't a large family, to me it is. I would like 2, wife says 4...guess it'll come down to the battle of strongest will. lol

My father was one of 10 children and my mother had only one brother. I have one sister, who happens to be my twin. I am older by 4 minutes.

My wife and I have four wonderful children, one son and three daughters, ages range from 20 down to 12. Wouldn't take a million dollars for those kids. Wouldn't give you a nickel for another one either.

I'm the 9th of 12, my wife is the 7th of 8. We have 4. When we got married I had over 150 first cousins - she had 45.

My grandfather came to this country in 1912 with two brothers. My mom had 12 in her family, one brother had 21 with two wives (first one died with 12 kids, then he married a 21 year old widow when he was 50 and 9 more), and the other brother had 16 children. At the last family reunion there were over 600 cousins, aunts and uncles.

They kind of grow on you that way don't they? We are in the process of adopting 2 and my wife wants me to convert my office into a 4th bedroom so we can keep fostering children.

wife wanted to keep foster license after we adopted ...I had to tell her no..not enough room . This is how my whole digging a basement project started, lol
Lot of kids out there needing good homes. God bless you and your wife .

The wife and I have been blessed with one daughter. Would love to have more, but it doesn't seem to be God's plan at the moment.

I'm the oldest of 7. It seemed growing up the questions I always hated was, "What does your Dad do?" and "Does your Mom work?" As if we were all welfare babies or something. I was always proud to tell eveyrone my "Dad is a lineman, and my Mom is a Mom." I am so grateful for both of them and all they sacrificed to provide for us what they never had as children.

Im the oldest of 6...my parents came from large families too. My wife is the only of an only- from a long line of "onlies". We have 5 kids- oldest 32 youngest 7. They are all a blessing.

I remarked this weekend that anymore being the parents of a large family is a lesson in weekend seperation- with sports events and what not we hardly see each other on Sat/Sun. This weekend the wife had the middle daughter in Williamsburg at a soccer tournament, I kept the littles at home and maintained the livestock, then went and saw my older daughter ride for UMW in her final college equestrian event of her career in Fredburg. Finally we all hooked up at an indoor soccer game Sunday night in the "burg.
When I was a kid, there was no Sunday youth sports- its our own fault for letting them get involved in so much I guess. Love my midgets though!

We've got the same scenario here. Her parents wanted more than the four(two boys and 2 girls) they had but it wasn't to be. So She'd like four and I used to think I'd be fine with the two (Boy 4 and Girl 2) we have now.
I've come to the conclusion though lately we are going to have as many as God blesses us with.

There were five kids in my family and my father used to get asked the same question: "Are they ALL yours". He had a favorite answer: "Well, they are for certain all my wife's, but I can't really say about the other part, can I?"

I have a sister. The wife is the oldest of 7. We have six kids ages 11 down to 3. First four are adopted from Guatemala, the last two from Ethiopia. Worth every penny!

We have 3 children, two boys and a girl. I came from a family of six, my wife from a family of five. My father was second of five and my mother was fourth of six....No television back then and long dark nights!
Did you know that 99% of humans are caused by accidents?

My wife and I have one daughter.

I have one sister and my wife is the youngest of seven. Then when those seven were taken away from their birth mother for child neglect, the birth mother went on to have somewheres around 6 to 9 more. No one knows for sure. Every time we have an annual reunion, some strange looking people show up that no one has seen before.

My wife was adopted, and found her six older brothers when she was 40 years old. She and her brothers joke that they know they all have the same birth mother, but they're not sure about the father.

Reminds me of the story about Groucho Marx on his TV show.."Say the secret word.." Groucho said, "lets take a minute to meet our constestants tonight. First is Tom Smith...Hi Mr Smith. It says here in my notes that you have 8 children..It that correct? Mr Smith said, "Yes it is Groucho." Groucho said," I don't mean to be rude, Mr Smith but why do you have 8 children. Mr Smith said, "It's quite simple Groucho, I have 8 children because I love my wife." Groucho never missed a beat. He said, "Yes and I love my cigar but I take it out of my mouth once in a while."

I have three boys, was one of five boys. Dad was the youngest of three, grandpa was the youngest of five, great-grandpa was one of 10, great-great-grandpa was one of 13.

My great-grandmother had 21. One set of twins, the rest single.
The family joke is that she killed three husbands in the process.
I'm the oldest boy of 5 kids.
I married two women with ready made families and never divorced the kids.
So if I add them all up I have 13 children an 11 grandchildren including two kids of my own.
I appreciate the folks that can foster. Being a step parent is difficult as well.
