Any 6.4 diesel experts out there?

On my '08 f250 I want to put in a dpf delete pipe. The pipe has the holes to move sensors but I was wondering if I have to buy a programmer to bypass the regen cycle? I have a superchips cortex and mainly run it in the preformance setting kicking out 425 hp but it won't let me change the regen stuff just speed limiter and cai etc. Just basic stuff. Any help would be great.

I think you are in the wrong place for advice here. We just started juicin up the 7.3's!

You'll need a programmer capable of disabling the regen function. Im not sure what companies offer that for sure, but i think H&S and Quadzilla do.

I didn't think my 7.3 needed juiced it was great. But the 6.4 is a slow spooling turd. It took my 2 weeks after owning it to get the programer and I've been satisfied except the stupid exhaust filter is a pain. I think my warrenty is gone as of jan 1st this year. It's only at 65,000 miles so I figured I just as well get rid of the filter and save a little fuel as well.

Yes you do have to have a programer to bypass the regen. If you dont you will constantly have a check engine light, and it will de-rate/ go into limp mode. Now for the really bad news. You may have waited to long. In the last couple of months the EPA went in and padlocked the doors at H&S performance. After making a example of H&S for selling illegal delete's(tuner's and hard parts) all the other manufacturer's have started to toe the line. I was talking to a vendor at the NFMS and he said anyone that didnt have the stuff already was out of luck unless you can find someone willing to part with a used one. He even offered to buy mine off my Dodge that was sitting out in the parking lot! On a brighter note, AFS is getting ready to introduce a high flow DPF. All the manufacturers still make tuners, but there is NO delete programs in them. Hopefully some where there is a guy on his computer writing black market tunes as we speak.

You will need an off road program. Just removing the
regen program wont do it. (BTW, thats illegal to do,
and if you get caught its big bucks.) I know the
Duramax guys are only gaining 2 or 3 mpgs by
deleting it.

I got rid of thr CAT and DPF shortly after I bought my '08 new. Best money I ever spent. 4 mpg increase across the board, and just runs better. The regen cycle is normally triggered by exhaust pressure due to the DPF getting full. When you eliminate the DPF, the backpressure is gone, but the computer will eventually trigger the regen cycle anyway after a certain amount of time, and will never shut off since there is no heat build up with the DPF missing. In other words, you must have a programmer so the regen cycle is deleted. Also, since the regen cycle injects extra fuel into the exhaust stroke, some fuel will get past the rings. If your truck isn't using any oil, the oil level will increse between oil changes. I would rather not have fuel-diluted oil in the crankcase. Getting rid of the DPF will get you better fuel milage and make the engine last longer.

Quadzilla is no longer in business, the rest will be heading for the hills as well. EPA is cracking down hard, and the aftermarket is folding rather than fight .gov.

Got off the phone with the local diesel shop and they said 1 programer left and I have to buy the pipe from them....$2000 for the programer and $229 for the pipe. I think they know the end is near.
