Buying tractors a long way from home

Thanks to all you people that chimed in on my last post about obscure locations to buy tractors. You all are a great bunch.
What is the furest you all have gone to bring a tractor back home?
The greatest distance I have hauled a tractor home is the Fargo, North Dakota area, its about 950 miles one way from my home. I bought about 10 in the past up there.

Went from central MN to Hardy, Arkansas and back. Also have purchased tractors in Michigan, Kentucky, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Canada, along with many here in MN.

I brought one home from Arizona it was 1300 miles one way, just got a tractor and discer/seeder from Canada last fall ythat was over 900 miles each way

Bought a John Deere D in Wiggins, CO, had it shipped to Branch County Michigan, a distance of 1100 miles. I still have the D and I'm not shipping it back!

By the way, it was exactly as the seller represented it, down to the last dent and missing part. I was completely satisfied.

Not a tractor but, in 1989 I drove from eastern Kentucky to Tuba City, AZ, (a Navajo Res) to eat a Navajo Taco.

Someone I worked with and was raised there, said it was the best taco that was ever made. It was pretty good.

In 1980 my dad had drove from Az to Ohio, some 1950 miles one way, and picked up his model A Ford with tractor adaption kit.
Then sometime in the mid 1990's, a friend of my dads hauled my grandfathers WD45 to Az from the same area in Ohio for us.
We've also gotten two other ACs hauled from MD, at something like 2400 miles. Again, some friends were able to haul them for us at less expensive rates than normal freight.
Technically, Dad owns another in Md, and some more stuff in Ohio, but he's yet to get the ambition to go get them(there with a good friend and a close relative so no worries) and it currently appears the only way he will get them is to go after them himself.

Not a tractor, but I used the same trailer that I haul tractors on. Hauled a 57 studebaker golden hawk from great falls montana back to mo, about 1,370 miles.

Does from Louisiana to Northern Ireland via England count as a long way?

I bought a 200 case baler with thrower in Altoona Pa. many years ago. That was over 1000 miles, but gas was $1.35/gal. too. lol

We went to a sale one day and bought a 560 that would not fit on the trailer, 45 miles later it was home. Nice ride.

We bought a Stieger in Hays Ks to MI, another Stieger from Nez Perce ID to MI, 2940 JD from Lubbock TX to MI,856 TX to MI 1086 from AL to MI The rest all local.

Can't beat 950 miles but the farthest for me is 530 miles from Fessenden ND to Albert City, Ia. Hauled a Deere R in the back of a C70 Chevy with a tired 2 MPG 427. Truck was parked in that region and needed to be returned to Albert City from the wheat harvest. No charge for the truck but 270 gallons of gas dug into the pocketbook a bit. Jim

I picked up it was the names of the towns and my wife couldn't remember the name of the town.

I think I have 950 miles beat though!!!!! I have discussed the tractor in question, can anyone tell where it came from?

I live in NW Idiotnois. The closest tractor I got was 20 miles away. Also got one in Conneticut, one in Valdosta Georgia, another in Moses Lakes Washington, As well as one in Los Angeles California. Think I might start collecting one from each state. LOL

Bought a Kubota mini excavator in Miss. Had it shipped to Oregon the bosses father found a good deal for me about $500 off what the son wanted.

I bought a 320s slant steer in California but I didn't haul it myself. I had the boys from Reliable Carriers bring it back to there terminal in Canton, Michigan which was well over two thousand miles.

Farthest I have gone is from Sioux Falls, SD to Creston British Columbia. Guy had a Lindeman crawler that had a pretty attractive price and I didn't want to waste anytime on it. 1450 miles one way. Went 1600 one time to watch a JD 430 HC LP sell. So did a lot of other guys. Have hauled them home from Ohio, Kentucky, LA, TX, MM, IA, ND, MT, NE and TN. Always up for a road trip. Had a couple shipped from CA.

OK I pulled the distance. 7500 miles give or take 100. The calculator I used didn't list Laurens, IA so I had to pick Sioux City. The tractor came from near New Delhi, INDIA.

btw here is a link to the calculator I used.

Drove my first combine (cabless JD 55) 60 miles home in Janruary.Later moved a complete line of equipment(includeing that combine) 320 miles on a 68C50 chevy .In later times I hauled dad's '66 'jimmy' 735 miles from Cottonwood Falls KS.Most recent was the JD 95 combine from Wellington KS,again 700+ miles.

Hi Sam, how about taking it on another little trip to the Newark tractor show in November as were are featuring Ferguson tractors. This is to commerate Massey Harris buying Harry Ferguson in 1953 when thy had to get an Irish man to show them how to make tractors. MJ

i havent gone far yet but im fixing to , ive been working on a d-17 allis that belongs to my uncle in ill thats 1300 miles one way from me, he farmed with this since the late 60's and i have run this one when i visited and we had need of it for something, he's 94 now and just about home bound, i want it because it was his, more for the memories than any real use i have for it, the last time i was on the farm a couple of years ago it ran fine, but it will need a full cosmetic restoration to look nice . but im still talking him out of it, he thinks he wants to keep it for now as he "might need it some day"

Bought a SD-4 Sheppard out in Washington state.Threw it on the back of my lowboy when I was delivering out there.Hauled it back home to Md.

I hauled a two row corn planter that I bought from my uncle in western North Dakota to my place in Central Ohio, about 1300 miles. Does that count?
