The Walkie Talkie ad brings up a funny memory. Wanted some badly when a kid... when I was 9, my cousins moved to Floriday AND I GOT THEIR SET! But none of my older sibs would talk to me on them. :(

You should look on fleabay, search "agricultural posters". I did this morning and there are a few neat ones. Some are reproduction, but still neat.

It is amazing at the number of tools and implements that were actually produced and marketed from the end of WWII until the early 60s, and so many, like the Sally Saw did not catch on due to poor design and/or performance. Tractors and harvesting equipment were pretty well sorted out, but everyone wanted to make work as easy as possible. If you could look through some of Sears Farm and Garden catalogs from that era, you would find some rather strange looking items. BTW, I have a set of walkie-talkies somewhere around here that are similar to those mentioned. The things weigh about five pounds apiece.

I've seen a well sharpened Sally Saw used and it cut a lot larger Oak log than than quite a lot faster. As with everything, proper sharpening makes all the difference int he world.
