Well, some facts are evident in regards to the untimely passing of the young man whom was an employee and great friend of the farm.

He left a note stating that he did not want anyone to blame themselves and that he made the decision to do this on his own. Apparently while out to dinner with his family the previous evening, he excused himself just before everyone was ready to leave, went out to the car, was not feeling well, same thing the next morning, said I'm not well, not going to school, then took his life.

I was told, there was either 2 or 3 more suicides of the same age teens, whom he did know from the same area, not same school, in the following days, might have been 2, I can't find any info on those people, but there is a possibility of a pact. Also still a possibility of something gone wrong with a girlfriend, which can be tough on some young men, similar to what has ruined many a person while serving or working away, not realizing there are so many others out there, instead focusing on one person, like no one else exists, kind of a bad break up or similar. I think the pact has more validity, and understand the mechanics of the latter, but no one even remotely suspected anything, not one clue or reason. His dad stopped in Sunday to visit with my father, which he did often while Andrew was finishing up in the barns.

So the point of this is the awareness of these teen suicide pacts, its the single most bizarre thing I can think of, some kids can mask anything, you'll never know. I do not know anyone who would even think of doing this, at that age, more interested in sports, chasing the ladies, mechanical things, hunting, fishing, farm life, and so many other things. Thinking back to those days, and those years, which were really not all that great for me given the jerks both parents were back then enamored in there own lives and exhibiting resentment of me often (long story)no way I'd have considered it, ever. Even if bullied, my focus was on fighting to win or overcome the problems, which is human nature, and is why I just can't figure out what makes young people do these things. My advice is pay good attention to your kids. Today is the funeral, and his family sure could benefit from the thoughts and prayers of others.

I fear there is going to be alot more of this type of stuff going on given the way this country is headed.

Suicide is more common than you think. There is an unwritten rule in most news agencies to not report suicide. In general when a teen commits suicide, there is an increased risk among peers even if they don't know the person, no pact needed.

They usually try to get counselling in asap for friends of the deceased as they are the highest at risk of this effect.

prayers for family and friends, so sad.... had a teenage daughter that took boy too serious and was hurt when they split, had to make sure she was busy with whatever, took about 3 months to get past gloom, just never know

Society in general puts way too much pressure on common folk. GM and Chrysler get billion dollar bailouts but the family store can't get a couple thousand to keep them from bankruptcy. That's just one example.

My prayers are with this family. We all must understand that we live in Satan's domain, and that he will talk anyone into a final, fatal decision that he can. As long as our society ignores that fact, it will continue. We need to be diligent to help our young people to understand about the battle that quietly goes on for the lives and souls between Satan and God our Creator. For over 6000 years this has been going on and lives are destroyed every day. It is time to do better. May our God be glorified and may this family be strengthened.---Derrol in Texas---

It's A Wonderful Life, and the family, school, community world is better with YOU in it. Thats the message we must get across to young people. No if ands or buts. jmo gobble

Neighbor girl took her life after a bad break-up. Truly sad situation. Know her mother is still suffering.

You have to understand that kids these days don't think the way we did fifty to sixty years ago. I was talking to the boss's son one day. He said they feel there is no hope and a gloomy future for the kids of today with the way things are in the world. There is no parental supervision anymore, kids are on their own and with one or both parents working there isn't time to teach the children any morals or values. Said a lot more but I don't remember now. I know I never felt that way when I was growing up. I wasn't impressed with the way things were either but I tried to make the best of it.
