broken easeout at the head

the easeout is broken off even with the head, I used a torch and got some of it out but did not know how much heat the head could stand, thank all for the input that one little bolt make a man think crazey sometimes.

I ain't real bright about these things, I'd just be thinking about either taking it to a shop or trying to drill it out on a drill press of decent size.

Usually you will get the bolt red but the casting around it won't get that hot unless you really lay into it. If you're worried about the casting getting too hot, let it cool down and then go at it again. The heating and cooling should help loosen the bolt. You're probably too gun shy to try another easy out and justifiably so. If you try the torch again, melt some wax into the bolt when it cools down enough to not burn the wax away, and then walk away from it till it's completely cool. The bolt might turn right out. Don't give up on it too soon. You might win the battle yet. If you do end up wrecking the threads in the hole, there's always the helicoil or something similar to get you back in the game with new threads. If you drill some more, be careful not to drill all the way through into the water jacket. If you do that you'll have leaking threads. Jim Jim

Weld a flat washer to the broken bolt and easy out. Then weld a nut onto the washer. Now take a wrench and gently uncrew both the bolt and easy out from the head.
If you bought a cheap easy out from some place like Harbor Fright then let this be your lesson not to buy crummy tools.

A small plasma cutter works great on those. Split it in a cross and you can pick it right out of there. Works on broken taps also. Done it several times.
