Larry asked me to host his Feature Night this week. So I made up a 5 day schedule so we can all get our pictures ready.

Sunday - Homesteads old, new, falling down, etc
Monday - Butchering Day hogs, cows, fowls, deer.
Tuesday - Your Shop
Wednesday - Lawn Décor plants, machinery, etc
Thursday - What is it, Brand, Model, Use etc
Friday - The Prettiest View on Your Place

These are just some I have come up with from the top of my head. If we can brainstorm and get a schedule together this will be fun. Looking forward to all your pictures.

These are some pictures of where one of my cousins lives for the time being. It is his mom and dad's place and his dad grew up there. It is nestled in between some hills in Fairview Heights, IL. My Uncle had two mules he used up until 1976, he raised mostly vegetables, horse radish, sweet corn, tomatoes, green beans, alfalfa, wheat. Where the cars are parked is where the old horse lot use to be. You can see how the sidewalk to the barn is sliding down the hill into the lot. The two buildings built into the hillside to the left of the barn, the smaller one use to be the sheep shed and the larger one was the horse radish shed. The little dog house looking building next to the big maple tree is actually a well house. Other than the two mules, he also had a small 8N and my cousins still have the MF 35 tractor their dad had. I took these pictures when I turned in his driveway and kept taking them as I drove in. The little bridge hasn't been used in years but was wide enough for his little tractors.

John thanks for taking the time to take the pictures. I enjoy looking at old homestead pictures!

This is about 2 miles up the road from me. There is 12 out buildings that I can see from the road. It looks like they just up and left. Its really a beautiful old farm. There is alot of machinery and a few tractors that I can see through the woods.

I love your little water tower. that is one project on my list to hold water for the garden. we can catch rain water off of our shed just 50ft up hill from the garden. I was thinking of using a sump pump to pump it up in the tank then.

First pic is of my summer home, second and third of my home home and fourth of the hayburners....

Actually, 1st pic is a castle in Ireland when I visited there in 2009 with my Son. Stopped by when driving from Dublin to the Cliffs of Mohr (sp?)

Here is my home. The house is a "T" shape. The front half was built in 1868. The back section was built in 1906. This farm has been in my family since 1840.

(quoted from post at 16:42:32 02/10/13) Do you ever go in and walk around Justin?

No I haven't. Trust me I really would like to but wont trespass and don't know who owns it. I have thought about looking up who owns it but just never have yet. The pictures don't do the property justice. It is a way cool looking place from the road. I just wonder what the story was as to why someone left the place and didn't take anything. The house looks as if there is stuff inside and I can see things in the buildings also. Maybe someday I will ask permission to go have a look. I will take lots of pictures!

Here is a pic of our family homestead with my dad holding the rains to Dan and Major. Dad died last spring on Mothers Day. He would have been 92 in June. The second pic. is of the Case Dealership he built in 1948 on property along side US RT 20. Pic was taken about 1950. Dad biult a new house in 1954 where you see the old delapicated building, and that is where he died. I live adjacent to the dealership in the open area just up the side road which bares our name now. By now most of you have seen recent pics, of Clinton Camp Farm, so I won"t post them again. The farm house has changed little in appearance since the first pic, but it has been modernized.

This is a picture of my farm as of June 25, 2012. My wife and I bought this farm 15 years ago. It didn't even look as it does now. It took us 1 full year to clean up all the junk left behind from the former owners. It ain't much, but it is all we have. I don't have a picture of the farm I was born on. Grandparents never had a picture taken of the homeplace farm.

Thanks Erik. I have been enjoying your farm photos as well. I always enjoy farm photos that are still working farms you know? I wish my barn was in better shape. But I can't afford to repair it anymore. Over $40,000 to get it back in excellent shape again. I like the pics of your pup. I always wanted one like that to work cattle. How is your pup working out for you?

I hear you on the old barn, I put some money in mine, wife asked why and honestly I don't have an answer other than preserving a landmark. I fixed split floor joists, the remainder is in fair shape, it has a good roof. I doubt I'll put anymore in it. I need to put money towards more machine storage instead, it's cheaper and more useful. Tin is a great dog, he is learning about cattle and I am learning patience with him. He is sitting beside me chomping on a big rawhide right now.

Here is my childhood home. It was in Norton County Kansas. In 1999 a 1/2 mile wide tornado wiped it clean. There wasn't a tree trunk left more than 5 foot tall.

My place was 9 acres of weeds in Jan 2004....spent four years building the house and buildings by myself.
First pic is from '07, second one a customer took in '11

This is where I grew up, in the house my great-grandfather built in 1882. I now live across the road in a house I built. The old picture is how it looked in 1900, the new picture is how it looks today. The barn is the same, the same house but extensively remodeled and enlarged, the summer kitchen still exists but was moved.

Similar to the house I grew up in. Two bedrooms upstairs in the old part, two in the newer part, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom downstairs in the new part, living room and bedroom in the older, plus full basement.

It was built around the time yours was, but burned I think in the early 1900s, and was rebuilt on the old foundation with the newer part added on at that time. Front wall faced west, addition faced east. Only the addition wasn't built as tall, so my bedroom windows were 6 inches off the floor and and ended about 3 feet off the floor, and the ceiling came down to meet them.

Larry

That picture where you are sitting on the porch. Did they sell potatoes? could swear dad used to take us to that house to buy 50lb bags of potatoes. It sure looks familiar.

No,but I know which one you are talking about ,the house you are thinking about has been torn down,I remember your dad telling me when I met him at tractor show in Berks co,
