What Tractor, that you don't own, would you want to run

I was just thinking of something a little more fun than the previous post.

The question is, what tractor, one that you don't own pr have any experience with would you want to try doing the things you normally or typically do ?

To start, for me, I like 45-60 HP utility size tractors and have an eye for something like a Ford 545-D, but also anything similar down to hundred series Ford's, like my 850, I'd love to try an Oliver 550 or MF, JD, MM, and how many others.

I thought it would be an interesting question with so many different things people do with tractors.

I'd have to say a Ford 5610 4wd with c/h/a, maybe a 6610, but that might be to big for what I do! I'd love a nice IH 1086, if I needed that big of a tractor!

For me it would be an Allis 185. I just like the looks and think they would be good for haying. I don't do much haying, but...

I'd go for a 4440- just a few more ponies than I have now. And maybe a midsized track loader for a few days. But I have enough toys now....

Don't want to run none of them anymore. There is always something broken or about to break. You young guys can have all teh fun.

Just something newer. Don't really care what. Sick of this old, unreliable, hard to start crap. I really like the john Deere 6x10 tractors. 6410 would be very ideal.

Deere CIH, New Holland, or kubota. New about 50hp with a factory cab, heat, air, and stero. I would also want 4 wheel drive. I brought a loader tractor last fall that fits the above discription and it has really spoiled me. I just came in from moving snow for the last four hours with it. Now I would like to replace my tractor I do the feild work with the same comforts. Guess I'm just getting old and or just getting soft.

I would enjoy running one of the real big ones for a little while.Like everything else I am sure it would get tiring.

I would like to run the experimental Oliver turbine tractor built in mid 50's. Saw it in the Ford Museum during FFA trip in 1957.

I got to ride with a younger friend (I'm 78) in a John Deere 8530 tractor last fall pulling a big grain cart catching grain from a new John Deere S670 combine. I was impressed with how easily the driver could maintain just the right speed to keep positioned to take the grain on the go from the combine. The tractor had the IVT transmission. One time I really wished I was young again and could run one of these babies doing various farm jobs with it. I guess I should Thank God I can still climb in and out of one of these big tractors easily, most guys my age that I know can't.

I would love to have a 5445 Massey, cab, air, front assist and the ant eater front end, 1070 quick tach loader. Almost bought a new one back in 05, but just couldn't quite justify the investment. Now that same tractor with 2500 hours is selling for more than new!! Still would like to have one!!

I've probably got sommers between 25,000 and 50,000 hours setting in the seats of them things (no way to know); first one bought in '65 and 4 of 'em out back right now; I'll swap you a few hours........

Since the thing I normally do is sit.........maybe a Minneapolis Moline UDLX; probably wouldn't have wanted to farm with one, but I always like the looks of the D21s.

Thanks for asking I will have a Massey Ferguson 1150 please...no rush, just send it over when you have the time!

An Oliver. They are not many around here And I always liked the looks of them.

Well, since it doesn't take much tractor to take care of three acres, I have always wanted to climb in one of those huge (to me) tractors with a/c stereo, etc. somewhere in the midwest where the fields are so large that when you get to the end you eat lunch before you start back, and just see what it felt like to work with something that large.

Allison 185 or anything in that series. Always liked the looks of them. Never ran an Allis before

Twin City 60-90, only saw one once. About the biggest of the old prairie tractors. I wouldn't want to wrestle with it all day, just for a while.

Would a steam (traction) engine still count as a tractor? If yes, then any steamer pulling a plow or running a thresher! If no, then a Heider C or a pre-1920 Case 20-40.

I would like similar to what I have. A nice 50-70hp utility tractor 4x4 loader, lots of remote hydraulics and maybe a hydraulic reverser instead of my manual one. Diesel of course, its a tractor.

Now for my second choice, the pictures above explain it all. Gas or nitro burning engines on these would be perfect.

Since I'm from the old school "muscle tractor" era ('60,s---early '70,s) always drooled over plowing with a JD 6030 and maybe 7 btm for a day or two. They have the "right" look and the "right" sound. The "Hulk Hogan" of 4020,s so to speak.

I have driven a lot of tractors - at least sat in the seat, so some I haven't driven: Any of the muscle tractors from the 60s and 70s. Or a Case 1200/1470. Something with a Detroit.

I would love to drive a John Deere R and an 80 once just to know what they are like. Actually, I can't imagine passing up the opportunity to try out any type of tractor, as long as it didn't cost me anything. If I was buying and could afford it I would get a JD 6400 or 6410, or a Case IH Magnum.

sounds like you're a bit familiar with them. i have a magazine pic of a nf gasser hanging on the wall.
i guess the bulk of my time has been on ac, oliver and ih.

My first thought is an IH W-6 or W-9. Standard treads are virtually non-existant in my part of the world. I'd like to try it just to compare to an M.

I've got an MF 5455 sitting in the yard here almost to that spec but it doesn't have the slant nose and the 4wd isn't working at the moment. Your welcome to come up and mow some hay in June! They are a great tractor and hold their value well. I'd love to get a slant nose and move the loader off mine.
