Hello
I have a 861 powermaster. needing to know how to remove the the brake drum. It apprears you have to remove the axle? A diagram of link to a diagram would be very helpful. also it appears there is a spacer attacted to the outside of the the drum? DJ

It might be better to get a I-T manual rather than one donated page. You can use it for the whole tractor and the price is right.

No need to remove axle to remove drum.

Back off brake adjuster if necessary.

Drum will likely be rusted to the axle if it has not been removed for years.

Penetrating oil around lug studs and center hub will help.

Persuasion with a hammer (brass preferred) around the perimeter and patience will pay off. The drum is steel rather than cast but do not wail on it.

If replacing brake shoes, post back for help removing the brake shoe pins and bushings which will likely be MUCH more time consuming if you do not have a torch. Posting in the Ford forum preferred.
