Live out of state and put this friendly letter in my bucket file. No reference to a state law. So fishing for for the sale value.

Don't know why they would be doing that- its all public record, and in the case of the Assessor's office, located conveniently down the hall in the same building.

Don't quite understand what they're even looking for? Your opinion?
Here in Michigan they do a sales study every year. They look at actual good sales, not auctions, not repo's,not land contracts, not sales between realtives. Then they get values based on those good sales.

May not be public record in his state...been out of the business for awhile so don't know what it is here now (OR)...
Does sound like they feel public record of sale price (if one required there) may be gotten around a bit to keep tax bill down...
Our property valuation here (city lot) is becoming like Pluto in that it's less each year (which is correct here) but taxes go UP each year...

Every year the county sends me a form to fill out so they can bill my taxes, we have been in this house for ten years. Last summer the assessor showed up and said I had not ever filled out the form, I told him I paid him to do his job every year and I was not filling out anything. Taxes stayed the same. Missouri.
