Getting senile as we get older!!! LOL

At the breakfast table this morning my wife was watching outside. We have a house cat called Milo that showed up here a few years ago fixed. Someone dumped him out. My wife brought him inside. Since then she has seen another cat that looks just like him every now and then outside. She always has called that cat Milo's brother. So she tells me to look at this cat out side this morning. It did look just like the house cat Milo. She made me call the outside dogs into the garage. They sometimes will chase a cat if the cat runs. This cat was outside exploring all around. So she goes out and calls the cat over to her. The cat came right to her. Muddy from one end to the other. (We got rain yesterday and have ice this morning on the roads)

So she cleans this cat off and lets him down in the house. All the other cats come and smell him and hiss. So we are convinced that this is the other cat. But we can't find Milo. So we get looking at the cat from outside.

So here is the senile thing. We can't tell for sure if the cat is ours from in the house. If it is Milo how the heck did he get outside this morning. I know he was inside last night because he sets/sleeps on my bed until I go to bed. Plus why are all the other cats all PO at this one??? We searched the house over and have not found an extra cat.

So right now it is looking like we had Milo get outside. How I do not know. The funny thing is we are not sure if that is right or not. LMAO

I am waiting for my wife to call me that we have an extra in the house. I guess she will get her collars and name tags now. She has been wanting to collar all the cats.

PS Guess who is getting blamed for letting the cat out???? If I let any of them out deliberately it will be one of the other fur butts. I kind of like Milo.

I buried one that had gotten run over. Wife insisted it was our cat. I was not sure. Got done burying it, when the real cat showed up siting on an outside windowsill.

It was alot of work in the July heat. I still wonder who's cat that was.

Well - your story kinda reminded me of long ago when we had two roosters that we couldn't tell apart. One of them flogged our little grandson, and there were two chickens that evening for supper.

They can be smart enough to dart out behind you when you open the door. Mine have done that a few times. When these 2 we have in the house now are gone, there will be no more cats in the house. Tired of the occasional mess and the smell, I'll miss 'em in the house but we have 2 nice barn cats that stay out there, the way it should be I guess.

I use the George Foreman method. Name all cats Cat, Dogs Pat, wives Honey, girlfriends Sweetie, and kids George.

Don't worry about it, I have looked out and seen cat when I swore he was in. They will scoot out sometimes when you open the door.

Used this one before ....but it seemed appropriate! LOL

Sam, Back in the early 80's I did some work in a public housing development that had some Vietnamese immigrants. A few of the residents mentioned nearly all of the cats and small dogs had disappeared recently. A co-worker who had served in Nam asked if the pet's disappearance had coincided with someone new moving in. You could see the light go on in their heads. They mentioned the Vietnamese people cooking strange smelling food on their grills.

JDS,
A few months back I was working on my backhoe. I had let my son's pup outside. I went in for lunch and the pup met me at the door. I didn't remember letting her in. I thought I was losing it.
After lunch I let the pup out and I went back to work on the tractor. I heard something and looked up to see the puppy standing on her hind legs. Front paws on the siding next to the door and pulling on the storm door handle with her mouth trying to open the door!

They had some old woman on the news in Baltimore the other day lamenting about her cat. Seems it snuck out on her the week before and the local dog or something chased it up a tree, about twenty feet up, and nestled in a crotch of three or four branches. It was 6F outside, and overnite was down to 4F. Cat had been in tree for a week, and noone would help her get it down, and the 'scared kitty' needed help. Nobody told her that it was fine- the cat would find it's way down when it got hungry and was ready. When was the last time you saw a cat skeleton in a tree???

Sister did something like that with 2 look alike cats, She got up one morning looked out the windor seen what she thought was her cat dead on the road from being run over by a car, Grabs a shovel, the dead cat and takes it out back and buiers it, Puts the shovel away looks up on the steps to her deck and Yep, There sat her cat watchin her, Scared the crap out of her. lol.

Iwoke up one morning and my wife said from out in the kitchen, what would you like for breakfast dear? Then I heard some shuffling of cans and her asking,Tuna? Ocean whitefish? chicken ? salmon? Then I realized she was talking to the cat,not me!

My dog came up to me one day carrying the neighbors favorite cat in his mouth. I was thinking this will be some bad news, so I took the cat and washed the thing, snuck over and laid it by their back door.
The next day I see my neighbor and he is shaking his head. He said there are some sick people around here. Mittens died, I buired him out back and someone dug him up, washed him and put him by my door.
