Wood splitter

Does anybody know about how much a wood splitter should cost to rent for a day? I need one ,brut not often enough to justify buying one. Thanks, Tom

Place here does it for $160 a weekend. My 3 pt one was only $200, but have to put hours on tractor. I like it though, one less dang engine around here.

Little hole in the wall place by me use to be $40/day. Standard sized gas unit, a little beat up, but ran like a champ. This was 2007, price may have went up a bit.

$85 per day + gas in Houston.

Northern tool has a 3pt that plugs in to tractor hydraulics that sells for around $800.

I will probably end up with that one as chasing down and returning the rental is time consuming and inconvenient.

$55.00 a day plus gas, 20 ton vertical, with two of us working it can split all our wood one day, then work on stacking, etc after we return it, cant justify owning one for that

I found a used, (apparantly) homemade splitter for $200 with a blown motor. I re-rigged it to run off my Farmall H belly pump.

Last spring I was giving 75 a day. The good news is with the price of heating oil, I recouped the 2 dsys rental quickly this winter.

I used to consider it (renting) and technically I don't use one enough to really justify owning one, as it can sit quite awhile, but its there when I need it, and or conditions are good for working etc, given the cost, mine was a few years old when I bought it, I thought it was well worth having, paid $1000. I have quite a bit of wood to process, and hand splitting, which I used to not mind, was good exercise, is too hard on the joints, so I decided it was a good idea.

In this area there were a couple of people advertising rentals $30/day, maybe more the first day, I can see why, as the do sit, and one or 2 people advertising they can cut, split your wood, stack, and do any necessary clean up, both using Huskee, (really Speeco) splitters. Probably not a bad deal if you needed it done, I just hate depending on others and given the wood on hand, it just made sense to own.

I use to rent a splitter back in the 1970's for $20.00 a day. I decided to take pictures and make measurements of the splitter I rented and build one. I had the the 10hp Tecumseh engine, bought the hydraulic cylinder at a government auction. I bought the other hydraulic parts from Northern Hydraulics. It was built in 1982. Hal

I built one that is bolted to my JD A and runs off the PowerTrol unit. It could be a bit more powerful, but my total investment was $85 and I've used it for almost 35 years so I guess it was a good idea. I probably find 2 or 3 pieces of wood each year that it won't split.

Found one for $70 a day. Pretty reasonable. I can get it Saturday and use for the weekend for that price. Thanks

Picked this one at a farm auction with some good farmer added options, reinforced legs and base.

Live too far from town to run a rental back and forth.
