Want to renovate this one? This dugout was built in the early 1900"s....My Dad(in picture) and 7 other siblings plus Grandparents all lived in this at one time.....quite cozy, I imagine.

Wouldn"t want to live in one today.

I took this picture in 1969 on the way to Canada on a fishing trip....don"t know why we didn"t get any pics of the inside....probably thought the roof would crash down on us...

We were looking for a jar of old pennies Dad had buried in a mason jar in the "front yard" about 40 years earlier. Even with a metal detector, we got skunked.

Dad figured Grandpa knew where the pennies were and felt that money could be better used to put food on the table rather than left as a treasure find for a future generation..

I believe the saying "dirt poor" originated on this parcel...

Those are the pictures you want framed and hanging in the living room.

That type living was definitely different than what most people grew up with now. Today, kids believe hardship is their parents wont get them a cellphone.

8N'r--WI,
Really cool! I love it.

I'd have to go inside with my camera, though. Just cannot resist when I get close to an old building.

House I grew up in...the kitchen and dining room were the main house for my ancestors. The rest of the house was added on by later generations. When my dad remodeled the original part - NOTHING was plumb or level.

I would defenatly save that house.I thought I had it bad when I was young. I had to share a bedroom with my brother, and no TV, and a outside toilet. Stan
