eBay Tractor Parts???

Just reinforced my belief that some sellers on eBay are bidding on their own items!!
I am looking for a used tractor part and have noticed, along with other catigory parts, an item's bids, many times, exceeds the new price, from a dealer!
You can click on the number of bids and see how many items the prospective buyer has bid on or sold.
One item had 21 bids ---16 from a "0" feedback bidder and 4 from a "3" feedback bidder.
High bidder now has a "976" feedback rating. This all may be legit, but I have my doughts!
Money is too tight for me to play that game, so I have ordered the part new.

Agreed. It happens at both electronic and live auctions. Let the people that don't know what they are doing waste their money.

I sold a part on Sunday to a guy with a 0 rating, he was the only
bidder. He even paid for it at the end. This has happened to me
before and I don't sell that many parts on there.

Like any other auction, if it's selling for more than you want to pay, don't bid. People pull all manner of shenanigans at live auctions, too.

I've gotten some great deals on tractor parts on eBay. An oil pump and governor for my H Farmall, (at different times) a transaxle for a John Deere 111 garden tractor, among others.

I always determine the max I want to pay for anything on Ebay. I put that in as my bib and they automatically up your bid as needed until it hits your max. At that point I am out. If I see someone cancel a bid because of any reason, I cancel mine and look elsewhere.

I've been selling on ebay for over 11 yrs. A person cannot bid on their own item. Ebay can detect the IP address of the computer(s) so it doesn't matter if you have a different ebay user name or not. When you register with ebay you need a credit card and mailing address so it makes it a little more difficult for a person to be able to bid on their own item. I'm not saying it can't be done some how but I wouldn't think it's worth the hassle. There are those people that buy tractors that know little about and don't know new parts may be available for them still. Co-workers and friends tell them go to ebay you'll find it. If you've been around tractors for a long time you'll know a deal when you see it or if it's fair. I use auction sniper dot com when I want to bid on something. They do the bidding for you up to the last second. It's come in handy many times for me.

You are correct up to a point. A seller cannot bid on his/her own items, but you can sure get your friends to bid on them. It is also possible to bid on your own items if you use a different computer at a different location.
