Here's another picture from my IH book. I will try to post one every day until I run out of pictures...

I'm not sure about the paint or colors in these pictures but I would think they are authentic or maybe just look good in the ads years ago. It does seem that ads were more colorful years ago.

I am going to say the colors are correct for the time .. as companies competed this would be most eye appealing to some .. although the paint would fade sooner .. it never really pealed off as our modern enamel paints.
That was probably a flour based paint.
 
I will follow your wagon theme with this pic from my 1914 Case catalog. The wagons came in 12 and 16 barrel at a cost of $110.oo for the larger one. The whiffeltree and neck yokes was $40.oo inlue of tractor hitch. Brakes were $6.oo, and a hand pump and hose was $13.75.

Really neat. We have an old triple box (I think John Deere) that my husband restored. Fun to give rides in around the farm. Throw in some lawn chairs and a cooler in the back and head out.
