back in the 50s many homes had a decoration on their walls of a cresent moon hung with a chain with a star the moon had a stair with two landings was there a meaning behind this or superstitation thanksfor any imfo

A lot of junior high school students nade them in the late 40s early 50's. I made a couple that only my mom apprecited the craftsmanship. My coping saw cost me 40 cents and the blades were 5 cents each, My mom bought me an Estwing leather handled hammer for Christmas. I still have the hammer. My best source of materials was cabbage boxes from the grocery store. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
That was the only hammer I had for several years so I used it to work on my tractor

I have 2 of those and have been curious about this too. Got one from my grandma and the other from the wifes grandma.I will keep watching the answers too.

I remember seeing those when I was a kid. I was so young I didn't think about anything but the decoration. Haven't thought of them in years! Have no idea if there is any significance to it or not.

I think that it was pretty much a fad that someone started because they were easy to make. It gave some folks a hobby, and something to occupy their time.
I had a great uncle that cut them out of plywood and added a set of stair steps on the face of it. I don't remember the star part, or the rest of it though.

P.S.: I don't know where it came from, maybe a song or movie about "Stairway To The Stars".

Maybe that was the inspiration for these?
